I may get accused of underrating him here, but the TS has a point..
I very much doubt Foster would have been a dominant champ in most other era's, especially Spink's era when you had, Quawi, Saad, Mustafa and Marvin Johnson.. I'd say the highest calibre of LH opponent he's beaten would'nt even equate to a Bobby Czyz, who was game but limited.. The 175's that came after Foster, were a lot stronger in my opinion - Ahumada, Parlov, Galindez, Conteh would have all been stern tests for Foster in comparison to what he was used to, and yes, i believe had Monzon moved up and took it seriously, he would've had all the tools to take Foster somewhere he hadn't been before.. Monzon was enormous for a MW and owing to bundles of experience against top quality opposition, would have fitted in well at 175..
Foster was enormous for a lightheavy too and the reason he performed so badly at heavy, was more down to lack of experience in fighting top level opponents, and not so much size disadvantage.. He wasn't short of attributes at HW, he just didn't have the experience in knowing how to use them.. In fact he was superior in both height and reach to most of his HW opponents, who all apart from a past prime Folley KO'd him..
