Vargas lacked too many necessities to be successful for his style of fighting. He lacked speed and power and was hit too easily.

He tarnished his reputation for me when he relentlessly disrespected Oscar DLH over and over leading up to the fight, only to give a fairly weak performance then he was KO'd and went on to test positive for steroids after the fight.

Larry Merchant said it best after the KO. Vargas may have had a six pack but he didn't have a six pack on his chin.

His greatest victory was over Winky Wright and that isn't enough to overcome the losses to DLH, Mayorga, Tito, and Mosley.

I never really cared for Vargas since the fight in 2000 or 2001 or whenever it was but even if I were a fan I don't believe he's HOF material.

He didn't accomplish enough and add to the fact that he couldn't get the job done even with steroids is not good.
