  • How would prime Michael Spinks do in 2010

Michael Spinks undefeated undisputed former 175lb King and the first 175lb champion to move up and win the Heavyweight Title.. How would Spinks do if fighting today against, Chad Dawson, Bernard Hopkins, David Haye & The Klitschko brothers.

He outbox Hopkins and Haye,Dawson vs Spinks is a toss up.

    The Klits muder Mike.It's a size,power mismatch.

explain how it would be a `size, power mismatch`?

Gerry Cooney was 6ft 7ins tall just like the Klitschko brothers and had a wrecking ball left-hook yet was taken apart by 6ft 3in Spinks

cooney was 6'6 but only around 220 and of limited skills and even more of a limited chin

i suggest you stop getting your info from Boxrec as Cooney was 6ft 7ins tall not 6ft 6ins like Boxrec claim.. watch Foreman vs Cooney his height is stated in the Tale of the Tape..Cooneys chin was better than The Klitschko`s for sure, he also fought far better opposition than any of the Klitschko`s, he also punched far more destructively than the Klitschko brothers, if Michael Spinks boxed the Klitschko`s like he did against Cooney he would IMO beat both of them, Spinks had very good footwork along with his `herky-jerky` style and The Spinks-Jinx he would be a very difficult fight for them

your theory is what i call "The Playground Theory" my brother is bigger than your brother, my Dad is heavier than your Dad...size means nothing its boxing skill that counts, if size was such a big issue then Nicholay Valuev would be champion for life yet David Haye beat him who was 9ins shorter in height and giving away 100lbs in weight.

blah blah blah.1' is not making a world of difference.he was tall, slow and white which is when the comparisons to the klits should end.as far as better opposition,he was k.od by them.he got put to sleep by 300 yeard old george foreman so please stop.spinks is 1 of my all time fav fighters and 1 of only 2 lhw i would favor to beat roy jones but against the klits his chances are slim and none.and slim left town

I think to call Cooney's chin better than Vitali's is a pretty bold statement to say the least. And Gerry had a wicked left hook, that sometimes originated down by his knees. Unfortunately, he was a limited, one handed fighter. Puncher's chance (about 5%) against Wlad, absolutely no chance against Vitali.

Spinks has a better chance against Vitali, but I still think he loses to both.

And here's 6'3" Holmes and Cooney

I don't know how tall Cooney was, but he most certainly wasn't 6'7".

if size meant nothing there would be no need for weight classes.in boxing you cab be outpointed but i dont see spinks being able to stay outta harms way and still effectivly score.i couldnt imagine him going the 1 punch at a time route
