Who are the most overrated punchers in boxing history?

Devestating punchers who never were? It's annoying when any old accumulative puncher gets called a knockout artist.

Vitali's knockout ratio flatters his punching power IMO.

its hard to say being as how the landscape has changed.punchers are way more dynamic today..vitali will have a lower k.o ratio cause he doesnt actively go for k.o's and he's fighting much bigger fighters than say george foreman.plus guys just react differently to punches.cotto was very unstable at 140 but took some hard shots from judah, mosley, rito without much problems.chris byrd took some good shots from mccline, while mccline almost k.od sam peter, who has a very strong chin.kostya hit ricky hatton with some really hard shots but floyd k.o'd him

i dont think hagler wouldve been a puncher anywhyere above mw.i dont believe frazier woulda had a k.o ratio in the 70's if he fought the monsters of today.i will say i think joe louis and marcianos power were way overated.their competition was just to limited to get a decent gauge in my opinion

        Bruno?
Apart from shot fighters and B grade fighters every time he stepped up he couldn't KO his opponent even when he was dominating the fight like against Smith, Witherspoon and Lewis.

I do gather that Bruno was tested to have a remarkably heavy punch in PSI testing, but I guess he never got to truely detonate on most world class foes.

Nah, Frank Bruno was a devastating puncher.

His knock out wins over Scott LeDoux, Floyd Cummings, Gerrie Coetzee, Joe Bugner, Pierre Coetzer, Carl Williams and Jesse Ferguson are impressive.

Oliver McCall also said Bruno hit him the hardest and was the biggest puncher he ever faced.

            38 KO's out of 40 Wins. 84.44% KO Ratio

Well he seemed to land some good hits on Witherspoon and Smith especially but never dropped them.
Not a huge fan of this scientific measurements to be honest, bit cynical of "laboratory" conditions.

To be fair though Cotto none of those wins goes against what I said about grade B or shot fighter though?

I see your point, but he hurt all the guys he lost to, especially Witherspoon and Smith.. Lewis and Tyson were both badly wobbled too, where as with the exception of one good performance against Hagler, Mugabe got taken out early in most of his defeats without inflicting any damage, ie: Norris, McClellan, Thomas..
I don't think Bruno gets overrated as a puncher..

Quality of opposition shouldn't matter when judging a fighters power.

As well as being very overrated as a fighter,Tszyu was never the puncher he was made out to be.
