Excellent post. What I loved about Monzon was that as a tall middleweight, he fought tall. He made you adjust to this. If you were a slugger(Briscoe) he'd outbox you. If you were a boxer, he'd still outbox you. A complete fighter who was completely lost outside the ring. What a tragic ending to a great fighter.

What always impresses me is the way Monzon get so much leverage and power into those long shots and yet he always seemed to be in perfect balance. What a fighter! He was lethal inside the ring as well as outside .

Tough job making a HL of Monzon. He was not flashy at all.

But he was so effective, smart, tough. You look at a Monzon fight and you are typically underwhelmed. By the end of the fight you realized you just watched a master.
