    Jake Lamotta vs Thomas Hearns

I think this would be a great fight.

Could Hearns be the 1st fighter to knock Lamatta down?

    Could Hearns beat Lamotta?

Who do you pick, and how would they win?

No, but he could be the second.

Would be a good fight I think.. the punch vs the chin. Usually they say the chin wins out in the end but I think Hearns has the reach and boxing ability to outbox Lamotta and win a decision or possibly stop him late.
On the other hand, Lamotta could apply a lot of pressure on Hearns and could take control of the fight later on.
I'll give the slight edge to Lamotta because he was the better middleweight of the two.

If this fight is 15, the distance these guys fought at, LaMotta was a natural middleweight and would likely wear Hearns down and stop him late. If it were 12 I would almost certainly take Hearns for the decision.

Hearns could definitely drop LaMotta, though it wouldn't be easy.

If Jake could make it to the late rounds things could get interesting as Tommy begins to tire, but with Tommy's power, speed, accuracy, big advantage in skill, and Jake's open defence (a bit underrated yes, but face it, he was there to be hit) I can't see Jake making it through. Tommy would just pop the jab and drive home that right so many times, while maintaining distance and outboxing Jake, I think Tommy stops him inside 8.

I could see Hearns stopping him, or Lamotta breaking Hearns down. I'm sure different fights would be different results.

It would start out a lot like Hearns vs Doug Dewitt, but Lamotta is a better fighter than Dewitt by far and could make him unravel later on.

Hearns could not knock everyone out. He hit dewitt with everything but the kitchen sink and could not stop him, add to that Tommy's hands were fragile and he would have to fight Lamotta very carefully. The durable guys could get to him.

I think Hearns would've been able to outbox LaMotta from the outside but Hearns' shaky stamina would make this fight quite dramatic down the stretch, LaMotta wouldn't have stopped coming forward and his power is better than his record indicates. Still I think Hearns would've been able to cling on for a clear decision win.
