i never knew that and would be greatful if you could provide me with a link to Lewis poleaxing Bowe.. i was of the opinion that Lewis and Bowe only fought once which was in the Soul Olympics 1988 the way i seen that fight was Bowe landing combinations and easily beating Lewis to the punch throughout the first round, Bowe out-jabbed Lewis and staggered him midway through the opening round with 2 great uppercuts however the German referee kept repeatedly warning Bowe and stopping the action to warm Bowe for nothing..with 10 seconds remaining in the 1st round the referee stopped the action and gave Bowe a warning and points deduction for a "Headbutt" which Bowe had never done.. while watching i started to think to myself "is this fight fixed" .... Bowe was a clear winner of the opening round... at the start of round 2 Lewis landed a left-hook and rushed Bowe into the ropes where the referee jumped in and gave Bowe a standing 8 count, Bowe looked at his corner in disbelief with his hands in the air while taking the count, as the action resumed the referee kept shouting and warning Bowe repeatedly about using his head even tho Bowe was not using his head, Lewis then landed a straight right hand and a short jab, the referee stopped the action and again gave a dumbfounded Bowe a standing 8 count and stopped the fight making Lewis the winner... Bowe walked back to his corner amazed at the actions of the referee.... i can only describe it as a replica of Robin Reid vs Sven Ottke...The commentators was amazed at the referees actions, the crowd was amazed at the referees actions, it was quite bazaar to watch...here is a link to the fight also a link of Tua against Savon.

it does have place being mentioned
but there are 2 differences :
      (1) bowe was 21 at the time he was stopped by lewis and lewis was 23
as opposed to tua's 19 years of age as opposed to savon's 24-25 at the time
      (2) bowe was lewis' size as opposed to tua being just below 5'9" as opposed to savon's 6'5"

The bottom line is, that Tua was not 'poleaxed' by Savon..
Much like Lewis vs Bowe, the fight was waved off after Tua took a slap (typical amateurs) and stood there bitterly complaining to the referee.. Besides, no one gets poleaxed in head-gear..

Tua was staggering about his senses was scrambled, he did not know which was his corner and was badly shaken after climbing off the floor.... i have already described the Lewis vs Bowe olympic fight and cannot wait to see the fight where Lewis poleaxes Bowe

            so many mistakes :
            (1) tua was hurt , it was a hook , not a slap
            (2) you can get KO'd with headgear , just ask Mike McCallum , i think no one knows it better than him , you see , he was poleaxed only in head-gear , not once , not even twice .
Clinton jackson , andres aldama , alex ramos , i guess there were more

both lewis-bowe and savon-tua are on youtube , just watch.

              You don't understand sarcasm..
What you are grabbing at every strand of, is my way of saying, " If you regard Savon's stoppage of Tua as a poleaxing, then you may as well regard any amateur stoppage as a poleaxing and this would have to include Lewis's stoppage over Bowe"

If a fighter gets poleaxed, he doesn't stumble onto all fours and then immediately stumble back up and start jumping up and down infront of the ref.. He just lies there motionless, flat on his back for the count of 10..
That ref didn't even look into Tua's eyes.. He stumbled on his way up, and that was it, fight over.. Pathetic amateur crap.

I've seen those pathetic amateur scraps a hundred times and they don't even interest me.. It's just youngsters learning their trade under highly controlled conditions, and once again, no one was poleaxed in any of those fights.. Stunned yes, but poleaxed no.. Yeah, a short hook that kinda landed by accident; look at Savon when Tua goes on all fours.. He can't work out what's happening.. No mistakes there..

So who poleaxed McCallum with headgear on, as I haven't run in to him lately?

Tua struggled to gain his feet, he was out of it... Bowe`s stoppage against Lewis is one of the most bazaar endings to an Olympic final ever, yet many claim on these forums that Lewis beat Bowe senseless which could not be further from the truth... i agree that me using the word `poleaxed` to describe the Tua loss was the incorrect word to use, i should have used the term KOd instead.

Not a bad choice of words. Tua was totally out of it and even after the ref called the fight Tua still thought it was on. He was totally dazed and confused.

edit: I'm not hating on Tua. In all fairness, Tua was fighting a ridiculous opponent that probably would have beat Tyson, Bowe, Lewis, etc in an amateur bout.
