I wouldn't say he punched a lot harder. The point is though, neither of them really knocked out anyone of any real note. Both were beaten everytime they stepped up.

He had a decent chin, but he was dropped by Lou De Valle, so it was solid but not granite. Then again Toney has a granite chin and he got dropped and stunned in the Reggie Johnson fight. Hopkins has a solid chin and he got dropped twice in the Mercado fight. Im not sure how many fighters could of got up from that Tarver left hook though.

im not sure that i agree that Jones' chin was great in his prime. it was certainly a lot better than it was after he moved back down from Hvy but i tend to think that Jones' natural skills kept him from getting hit flush ala Floyd mayweather. Its all in his movements and Jones was a master in using distance and angles. Dont mind the argument that Jones never faced HUGE punchers. Valid point, IMO

I don't agree that Jones had a "great" chin. Let's just say that if he relied on his "chin" much like George Chuvalo or Jorge Fernando Castro, he probably wouldn't have made it past clubfighting level. However he had all the talents not to get hit in his prime and when he did get hit, he saw the punches coming.

I don't buy that Roy had a glass chin that could've been found out by just anybody either, the likes of Danny Green could have hit a prime Roy and probably found him not budging unlike the 40 year old he fought. If you want to see a "glass-jaw", look up Ed Hopson who had all the athleticism of a Roy Jones yet was KO'd by a blown up bantamweight at 130 lbs. However I don't think Jones, or just about anyone else, could have taken it from Michael Spinks, Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore or Bob Foster if they started landing consistently not to mention a super heavyweight like Lennox Lewis. Some of his fans do, not all.

Tarver Ko was just one of them shots which can knock anyone out, Glen Johnson shortly after was not a good match (i can't remeber the punch which got the KO). The only one was the Danny Green KO i have no idea wtf was up with that it didn't look strong at all but Roy was out of it for 40 + seconds staggering around.

I don't really see a reason to say he has a garbage chin.. at all saying he has a great/good chin might be going over the top also though
