Ezzard spent the first part of the 40's fighting at middle and up until about 1948 was still a lightheavyweight, la motta would fight anywere from 155 to 175 so its not like it couldnt of happend

Charles spent time in the army from 1943 to 1946 when LaMotta made his name as a middleweight and returned as a light heavyweight.

See what you're saying cos both were the same age, and both started out around the same time.. But by 1948, Charles was being touted as a contender for the HW crown, as was LaMotta for the MW strap.. Infact both won their respective titles in 1949, creating a weight difference of over 30lbs.. However, this still doesn't explain why they didn't get it on during the earlier years.. Same with Charles vs SRR; that fight was supposed to happen, but for reasons i've forgotten, fell through..

Interesting question though.. I'm gonna put some more thought into it....

that fight was supposed to happen, but for reasons i've forgotten,...... so has everyone else forgotten because its another one of your exaggerations... Charles was No1 contender for Tony Zales crown before going into the army, on his return he fought at 175lbs and a fight with Robinson never mooted

You're right, it doesn't make sense..
Robinson was welterweight champ while Charles was heavyweight champ, but i have definitely seen an article that suggests the fight was at one time, a strong possibility.. I'll see if i can find it again..
