  • The Top 20 greatest asian fighters?

saw that Bert Sugar had in his recent list only 1 asian fighter in his top 100, Pancho Villa. I think alot of Asian fighters probably never get the respect in the west since they rarely fight overseas and stay around the pacific. In addition, many don't understand the thai, korean, japanese commentators.

Anyway here is my top 20 asian fighters with their records.

    20- Soo-Hwan-Hong 41-5-4
    19-Hiroshi Kobayashi 61-10-4
    18-Hozumi Hasegawa 28-2
    17- Koichi Wajima 31-6-1
    16- Gerry Penalosa 54-7-2
    15-Chris John 43-0-2
    14-Masamori Tokoyama 32-3-1
    13-Ben Villaflor 54-8-7
    12-Koki Kameda 22-0
    11-Donnie Nietes 25-1
    10-Cerefino Garcia 102-27-12
    9-Veerapol Sahaprom 66-4-2
    8-Jung-Koo Chang 38-4
    7- Yoko Gushiken 23-1
    6-Flash Elorde 88-27-2
    5-Pongsaklek Wonjongkam 74-3-1
    4- Khaosai Galaxy 49-1
    3-Pancho Villa 80-5-3
    2-Fighting Harada 55-7
    1-Manny Pacquiao 50-3-2

Honorable Mentions: Royal Kobayashi, Hwan Kil Yuh, Eliyas Pical, Yasuei Yakushiji, Guts Ishimatsu, Nonito Donaire

I don't think that list is new.

Recently, I remember him say that Pacquiao is the greatest southpaw of all-time.

You probably confusing me with someone else- since I NEVER said Pacquiao is the greatest southpaw of all time. I myself have been su****ious of pac being on PED, and even my first posts in NSB have stated that. But until he is not proven clean than his accomplishments merit him being Number 1.

my mistake. Sugar had only 1 asian fighter in his most recent top 100. He use to have harada and galaxy but they were dropped. Sugar still has many bare knuckle fighters. If it wasen't for boxing documentaries, books, and Sugar i probably wouldn't have heard of guys like the original jersey joe walcott or Mysterious billy smith. But with little film footage and the fact that boxing still had racial barriers, it would be hard to put those fighters in perspective with today. The Boxing Hall of fame has a list of modern and old timers and this helps put those eras in perspective.
