It's definitely not a book that made King happy.
One time, Jack Newfield kept questioning King about some shady thing that happened, and King yelled at him in front of all the video cameras. It was on one of those TV news programs, Dateline or something like that.Comment

'Raging bull' was decent, but overrated in my opinion. I mention this every time one of these threads pops up, but 'Barney Ross' by Douglas Century was an excellent read.
“If I were the education president every White House inhabitant claims to be, the reforms would begin with putting Douglas Century’s new biography, Barney Ross on the required-reading list.”
Chicago Tribune
“This is an excellent story of a man and his times. And proof positive that time does not relinquish its hold over men or monuments. In a sport devoted to fashioning halos for its superstars, Ross wore a special nimbus, and this book properly fits him for that.”
New York Times Book Review
“It is not often that a modern biography ennobles not only its subject but the genre itself, but this is exactly what Mr. Century has accomplished, crafting a narrative as unsparing and inspiring as its subject.”
New York Sun
You watch the movie and think what an unlikeable dirtbag he was. You read the book and he discusses some of the things he did, and realize that he looked like a saint in the movie compared to how he described himself.Comment

What struck out the most about Raging Bull is what a sick person LaMotta was/is.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I like reading a good book about the sports history.
This ray robinson book is pretty good so far.
I have a lot of the greatest fighter type books and crap like that. But i mainly want some books that focus on a single fighter. like the book about barney ross the guy earlier mentioned. Id really be into reading that.
Also I saw someone posted something about a book on Joe Gans. Something I would wanna check out as well.Comment

Chris Eubank's autobiography was amazing. I've read many boxing books, and this was by far my favorite. I ordered from Europe through amazon pretty easily, and it was well worth it. By far the best book that goes into a fighters life, body, and mind. I highly reccomend it.Comment

I'm either getting the SRR book or the Wilt Chamberlain Larger than Life for xmas today. Also this week, I read "Sting Like a Bee: The Muhammad Ali Story" by Jose Torres. I really liked it. I thought it gave an interesting perspective, since it was published in 1971, ended after Ali's loss to Frazier and didn't have the time to let the public's dislike for Ali fade away. Definitely a good read for a young boxing fan like myself. Also Jose Torres was the LHW champion, so it's from a boxer's perspective. Quick, easy read. I reccomend.Comment
