Duran vs LaMotta @ 160lbs

I think Duran has the skills and tenacity to outfight La Motta here, stand in close and pick Jake apart from that range. But the action would be intense, and LaMotta would be fighting hard in there.

What do you guys think?

I think duran outpoints la motta over 15 rounds, la motta would have his moments but i think duran is to crafty and smooth for jake

I lean towards Duran too. LaMotta was tough but not a especially hard puncher.
If Duran was in top shape that is, if not LaMotta would out work him.

Yeah i agree with duran turned up in the same shape as he dif for the 3rd sugar ray fight jake would out work his ass. Remember durans big fat gut in that fight! he looked like he hadnt even done 1 sit up

I'll have to go with LaMotta by decision. His is more skilled than many think and gave even SRR hell each time they fought. I don't think he'll stop Duran but Jake's constant pressure combined with his size and workrate likely wins him a decision.

I believe LaMotta would win as well. Duran did great against fighters who came at him even at 154, 160 & 168 when he was aging and overweight but LaMotta is far more skilled at infighting than the likes of Davey Moore and Iran Barkley whom Duran took to school.

LaMotta was just 22 years old when he fought veteran Fritzie Zivic, one of the best and roughest inside fighters of them all, and he was able to overpower Zivic at a young age in competitive wars. Later on he improved and was simply impossible to deal with from a close distance at middleweight.

He was not all strength and durability either, I'd go as far as to say that his inside fighting ability matches up well even with Duran's. That combined with the size and age advantage would win it for him I think.

However I do not think it would be a one-sided contest at all, as said previously Duran did always do great against fighters who came at him, which Jake would do. It would have been close and a battle well worth watching. Duran obviously pound for pound the better of the two but 25 pounds south of LaMotta's natural weight.

I'm not so sure about that. Care to point out any fight in which his defense looked terrible? Aside from the late rounds against Robinson when he was severely weight-drained.

In his time LaMotta was nicknamed "Slippery" Jake.
