If you have quick forward movement like Tyson it allows you to attack faster than a typical opponent can respond. Without those quick feet the best thing is to slip punches and get inside your opponent's reach.

Everyone would love to aspire to Tyson's earlier success's, and I don't blame you for modeling that particular style..
The young Mike was an avid learner who paid great attention to detail.. He'd spend hours watching footage of old fights, and worked for obsessive hours in the gym, perfecting the moves of his hero's..
I know that 2 of his favorites were Joe Gans and Jack Dempsey..

Just remember, very few sportsmen in general, were as intensely focused & dedicated as a young Tyson.. I don't mean to be funny, but I'd suggest that a genuine desire to hurt people is what complimented his style the most..
