Hameds style was not unlike a lot of the Ingle fighters, it's the way he's always taught the sport.. Look at Junior Witter, Johnny Nelson & Herol Graham for example.. All Ingle based 'reflex' fighters, & Hamed was by far the best of em!
Had he been a good boy, gone back after the Barrera defeat, and said sorry to Brendon, then I'm sure he'd have won his title back.. But I'm afraid the word sorry dosn't exist in the Hamed book of charm does it?... So he swallowed his pride, got fat, bought a fast car and went out killing people, and he never once said sorry for that either..

I disagree with that. I think Graham was a lot more skilled than Hamed but Hamed probably had a better chin & more power so it took him further.

Hamed only fought one elite fighter, Graham had to fight two, McCallum, Kalambay and even though MAB is one of the my fav's, he is not as good as either McCallum or Kalambay technically!!!

Graham beat Kalambay in the rematch imo, he also run McCallum as close as anyone.

No way!.. Hamed could do things Graham could only dream of.. He could KYTFO from angles that hadn't been invented.. Graham took punishment in a lot of his fights where as you couldn't hit Hamed with handful of rice..
How many world champions did Graham beat? It doesn't bear into comparison..
Until Barrera, Hamed went through his division like a dose of salts, while Graham only ever fought as a contender in his.. All you've got on Graham is that he fought 2 very good fighters.. Sorry, I still go with Naz on this one..

Naz was never that illusive imo when he stepped into World Class, his power had to bail him out quite a few times, he got nailed in virtually every fight after the Robinson fight, he was even decked in his second defence.

Graham did not have the power of Hamed but Graham used to pick counter punches that used make me think daamn! that was bad ass.

Graham was able to box rings around Charles Brewer when he was near 40 years old, he also outpointed Pazienza when he was how old, as you know.

        He also beat Ayub Kalule?

For pure skills i think Graham was the better fighter, its just Hamed had crazy power.

Hamed HATED training. You can see now by the way hes let himself go that he always just wanted to pig out and let loose but he had to stay in shape and always had to train (before the Johnson fight he wasnt training properly and he gassed big time in that fight).

Also...he wanted to spend more time with his wife and kids. That's a big thing in ****** families.

He also revealed the main reason he quit boxing was because his hands kept breaking and after every fight his hands would be so swollen that he would have to use scissors to take off his boxing gloves and handwraps.

I'd say you underrate Graham's chin slightly.. He had a much better chin than Hamed infact.. If you take away the defeat to Frank Grant, in which a shot Graham basically gssed out, he was only ever KTFO by Jackson with a punch that would have dropped a shire horse..

Graham did beat a past prime Kalule at L/middle, but he did get hit doing it..
Just to make a comparison, Have you ever seen the Hamed Vazquez fight?
Graham may have had the better PURE skills, but no way were they as effective as the UNUSUAL skills of Hamed.. I was going to say UNIQUE, but then I thought of Jimmy Wilde..

I can believe that actually.. Those kind of 'Rocket Launchers' will take their toll on any fighters hands.. Not only that, but fighters who rely on reflexes, generally have short careers anyway.. In Hamed's case, a particularly good one though!

Very true. That hands down reflex based defence doesn't hold up forever against top level opponents.

I will never forget reading in a boxing mag...they were interviewing Manny Stewart...and they asked him who was the hardest puncher he had ever held the pads for...He said: Nassem Hamed..no question !
He also went on to say Hamed had the strongest legs hes ever seen on a small fighter!
