  • Can anyone confirm this?

Hi. I was wondering if someone can confirm if this is true.

I heard that the flyweight champion Jimmy Wilde fought heavyweights a couple of times. Is this true? Is there maybe another flyweight I'm getting him mixed up with?

Probably, didn't he fight over 800 fights or something?

Just read in wikipedia, apparently it was a myth that he had over 800 fights, but I heard that he had unlicensed fights in a carnival booth so this may be where he faught heavyweights.

What a record though 152 fights with only 5 losses!! Incredible.

Are there any names of the heavyweights?

I can't confirm for sure, but I very much doubt it.. Joe Walcott (not Jersey Joe) fought with success from light weight to heavy, but you MAY be thinking of Georges Carpentier, who fought as an amateur flyweight, and did have a few fights at HW toward the end of his career, including an unsuccessful tilt at Jack Dempsey's title..

The greatest Flyweight of all time in my opinion.. A pure boxer-puncher.

This is true, he started his pro career as a welter and finished as a heavy.

I was hoping I could find proof of this. Are there any other fighters who fought as flyweights against heavyweights?

you seem very anxious,to find out,why the need,if a flyweight fought a heavyweight he probably got his brains rattled, who would sanction such a mismatch
