  • Shaq vs De la Hoya (video) for comedy purposes

For the record, Size does matter. but skill and other factors matter more. De La Hoya is much more experienced than Shaq, I just wanted to show you what a boxing match looks like when one big dude is very limited in ability and another fighter is smaller but much better. It's very very easily conceivable that a fighter like Harry Greb could run circles around a 6 ft 3 heavyweight with even decent ability regardless of how much he weighed.

Shaq is 7 ft 1 320 lbs. making him considerably larger than Tyson Fury just for scaling purposes. So this is an absurd size disparity between Oscar (5 ft 10, 147-154).

My hope is that one day people can start to focus on attributes that really matter about fighters - and see what they are missing in the sweet science. There are so many good fighters that are being written off for being too light, some of them who killed themselves to get lighter for fitness purposes. a 126 lb boxer for example, is not the same as a dude on the street whos 126. one is a lean chiseled athlete, the other an extremely small and frail man.

so once again OF COURSE SIZE MATTERS. however, it won't matter if the bigger fighter isn't good enough!
