Missed a lot of telecast recently due to the World cup but have been catching up the last few days..........
McCloskey vs G. Lauri
Round 1 McCloskey
Lauri was taking the round but McCloskey
outworked him down the stretch imo
Round 2 McCloskey
McCloskey maintaining distance and having more success,
he also dug some solid hooks to the body
Round 3 Lauri
Lauri most consistent over the round imo
Round 4 McCloskey
McCloskey more active over this round, he landed
the uppercut very effectively
Round 5 McCloskey
McCloskey picked the better shots this round imo,
although it was a closer round
Round 6 McCloskey
Round 7 Lauri
Lauri landed a number of short chopping
shots on the inside, more active
Round 8 Lauri
McCloskey got cut this round, he was taking some solid
shot from Lauri on the inside, Lauri looked the boss
this round
Round 9 McCloskey (close)
McCloskey got more separation this round and picked
some smart counters, the right hook, and the uppercut
Round 10 Lauri 10/8
McCloskey had a point taken for leaning in with his
head
Round 11 Lauri starting hitting McCloskey whilst they
were in a clinch, it seemed to anger McCloskey who stepped in
after the ref broke them and knocked him out with a
hook
Dont know why McCloskey languished on the inside so much,
he could of made this fight much easier had he maintained
and dictated distance, kept some separation, he did
show he could fight inside, although he did get hit with a
lot of these short choppy hook right hands inside.

Fight Night Club - 6-24-2010
Jamie Kavanagh vs Luis Sanchez
Round 1 Kavanagh
Round 2 Kavanagh
Round 3 Kavanagh
Round 4 Kavanagh
Kavanagh is a patient aggressive fighter who uses
lots of upperbodymovement, might be a bit open
to right hands but he looked a decent prospect without
being exceptional, he can also move and use his legs,
kinda reminds me of Frankie Gavin the way he
uses his legs.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jesse Vargas vs Ernesto Zavala
Round 1 Vargas 10/8
Round 2Vargas
Round 3Vargas
Round 4 Zavala
Round 5 Zavala
Round 6 Vargas pins Zavala on the ropes and
forces the stoppage
Jesse Vargas is probably a better prospect than he
looked, he seem to do too much laying inside
giving up his range falling inside because he scored
a KD so early in the fight, he likes fighting in-tight, its worth pointing out
that he did seem to be blowing a bit in the fight, Zavala did
land some solid body shots on him, he does have a
nice in-close uppercut
-----------------------------------------------------------
Gary Russell Jr vs Rodrigo Aranda
Round 1 Russell Jr
Round 2 Russell Jr drops him with a body shot
and the ref calls it off
Excellent prospect, very nice use of the jab that he
uses consistently to dictate and control distance, very
quick to, however i already knew that having seen
him in the U.S boxoffs
---------------------------------------------------------------
Frankie Gomez vs Jaimie Orrantia
Round 1Gomez
Round 2 ref waved it off a bit too quick imo, hard
to tell how good Gomez is as we did not get to see
enough of him, although he is a highly touted prospect
who is a decorated amateur
------------------------------------------------------
Roberto Reyes vs Clint Coronel
Round 1 Roberto Reyes
Round 2 fight stopped on an accidental head butt
Roberto Reyes is a long range Boxer, bout all i could say
----------------------------------------------------------
ESPN Friday Night Fights
Jerson Ravelo vs Maxim Vlasov
Round 1 Maxim Vlasov
Round 2 Maxim Vlasov
Round 3 brutal big right hand that dropped
Ravelo on his face.
Jerson Ravelo fights scared, goes back on the line,
which leaves him open to right hands, he also has a
tendency to move one way, to the left. Maxim Vlasov
a bit wreckless, a bit overly aggressive
------------------------------------------------------
Jonte Willis vs Leo Bercier
Round 1 Jonte Willis
Round 2 Jonte Willis
Round 3 Jonte Willis 10/8
Round 4 Jonte Willis
Jonte Willis tries to look slick like Toney but he just looks sloppy,
he throws arms punches that seem to lack power, he did land
some classy counter uppercuts but he is not smart fighting the
style he tries to employ, although he seems to think he is
.-------------------------------------------------------------
Jhon Berrio vs Sherzod Husanov
Round 1 Husanov
Round 2 Husanov
Round 3 Jhon Berrio
Round 4 Jhon Berrio
Round 5 Jhon Berrio (either way)
Round 6 Jhon Berrio (Husanov landed better punches but inactive)
Round 7 Husanov
Round 8 Husanov
Round 9 Husanov
Round 10 Husanov
Poor fight technically, lots of scrappy exchanges, Husanov completely switched
off after round 2, although he came alive in again in the second half of the fight, not
a particularly impressive prospect, i was asking myself, where on earth is the jab?
I might have been kind to Berrio in a couple of rounds, he was throwing a lot but
not all of it was landing, that said, Husanov, whilst landing the cleaner punches, was
far too inactive in some of those rounds.

Vitali vs Albert Sosnowski
Round 1 Vitali
Not much in the round but Vitali did land a couple
of jabs, a left hook, and a body shot, could of been
scored even tbh
Round 2 Vitali
Not much in this either, although Vitali landed
a couple of looping right hands, a couple of left hooks,
Albert Sosnowski moving but not landing much, if
anything
Round 3 Albert Sosnowski (kind)
Prolly did not win it but there was nothing in the first
two rounds, plus, Albert Sosnowski did get
threw for the first time
Round 4 Vitali
Not much in it, Vitali landed with the jab, also with
his left hook and his looping right hook/hand
Round 5 Vitali
Another boring round, Vitali seemed to momentarily
hurt Albert Sosnowski with a left hook early in the
round, he also landed a right hook to the body
Round 6 Vitali
Vitali landed an early right hand left hand combo
that seem to slightly hurt Albert Sosnowski, he then
landed some right hooks down the stretch of the round
Round 7 Vitali
Albert Sosnowski was more spirited mid round
as he began to take it to Vitali, however Vitali
was landing solid right hand/hooks toward the
end of the round
Round 8 Vitali
Couple of hard rights by Vitali, Albert Sosnowski
managed to land his own right mid round, however
he walked into another right later in the round
Round 9 Vitali
VK using his jab to maintain distance, which is starting
to set up his right hands, a few right hands backed
Albert Sosnowski up
Round 10 Vital comes out landing the right hand
stalking Albert Sosnowski around the ring, he
managed to land another telling right that hurt
Albert Sosnowski, Sosnowski seemed tired
all of a sudden in this round, Wlad hurt him, then put
him down with a big right hand.
Vitali looked slow and his accuracy was awful, i
thought his fight against Gomez was a poor showing
because he was made to come foward, which he is not
as effective doing, however having seen the Johnson fight
, now this, im starting to wonder how much he does have
left, although he did, inbetween those fights, look
good against Arreola, this was a poor fight though,
technically and excitement wise, very boring.
Albert Sosnowski circled the ring for the most part,
landing the odd jab that the crowd came alive to, but for the most part he was
on a survival mission trying to dart in and out with
the odd feeble jab to the belly or head.
-----------------------------------------
Romero vs Mayol 2
Round 1 Mayol
Hard to split them imo
Round 2 Even
Mayol had a point taken at the start of the round
not sure what for, however he won the round imo
so i scored it even, he landed a few body shots and
got his left home a couple of times
Round 3 Mayol
Mayol scoring well with the jab this round, still not
much action though
Round 4 Mayol
Mayol controlling distance with the jab and dictating
the tempo of the fight, he also got to Nino's body at
one point and landed a left hook later in the round
Nino only landed a right, although it was a good clean
shot
Round 5 Nino 10/8
Mayol had another point taken for an accidental head
butt
Round 6 Mayol
Mayol more aggressive this round landed right hands
lefts early and landing his left uppercut on Nino toward
the end
Round 7 Mayol
Mayol landed on Nino when he backed him up near
the ropes
Round 8 Nino
Nino got more aggressive this round and landed
some solid left hook right hands on Mayol, he also
got to Mayol's body a bit
Round 9 Nino
Nino landed an early right hand on Mayol, later in the
round he landed a couple of left hooks
Round 10 Nino (either way)
Not much in this round to choose from imo, although
Nino did some body work mid round
Round 11 Nino
Nino scored with the jab, scored an inside right
hand when he was near the ropes, Mayol came
back a bit down the stretch but Nino landed on him
again before the bell
Round 12 Mayol
I liked Mayol's activity and aggression this round
I felt the official scores were wildly inaccurate, this fight was closer
than those scores suggested, infact there was little to choose from
in a lot of the rounds. The ref seemed to be on Mayol's case imo, twice
he tooks points from him for what seemed accidental clashes of heads, the
broadcast was in Mexican so i could understand what was being said, however
they seemed to be using open scoring, i thought that effected the way Mayol fought
the second part of the fight, the open scoring seemed to suggest Nino was infront
as the crowed cheered when i heard his name mentioned during the open scoring
after that Mayol stopped trying to Box from range and tried to put more pressure on
thus giving Nino a better shot at countering him when he came in.
----------------------------------------------------
Chavez jr vs John Duddy
Round 1 Chavez jr
Chavez jr using the right and landed the lead left
hook on Duddy, he aslo sneaked a few right hands
on Duddy
Round 2 Duddy
Duddy got closer to Chavez this round and put
more pressure on, Chavez also landed some solid
shots but he was too inactive to take the round
Round 3 Chavez jr (close)
Chavez jr became more aggressive this round
but i felt Duddy was landing the better punches
inclose, although Chavez jr came back and stole
the round imo, he closed better
Round 4 Chavez jr
Chavez jr laid inside this round and took it to
Duddy, he landed some pretty hard shots on Duddy
this round
Round 5 Chavez jr
Both guys going toe to toe, both landed shots on each
other, but Chavez jr is landed with the hard significant
shots
Round 6 Duddy(tough to score)
They stood toe to toe but Duddy dipped Chavez jr
he was not to hurt but he was hurt, Chavez jr landed
some pretty solid shots himself but i gave this to
Duddy
Round 7 Chavez jr
Clear Chavez jr round he backed Duddy up and
landed some big left hooks, he also landed his
overhand rights
Round 8 Chavez jr
Chavez jr backing Duddy up and landing some
huge shots
Round 9 Chavez jr
Huge round for Chavez jr, he hurt Duddy early
then tried to walk threw him, he landed consistently
hard on Chavez jr
Round 10 Chavez jr
Chavez jr hurt Duddy again this round, had him going
backwards and kept landing hard punches, i thought
Duddy might of got stopped this round
Round 11 Chavez jr
Chavez jr walking Duddy down this round he looked
as though he was gonna stop Duddy this round,
Duddy took some massive punches
Round 12
Chavez controlled the fight for the most part when he backed Duddy up,
Duddy cant fight on the backfoot, Chavez started to walk through him down
the stretch, he did however get hurt in round 6, Duddy rocked him with a left hook
i think it was, he was not badly hurt though, Chavez caught punches a bit better
although he still got hit a bit, he did something which was effective against Duddy
that was to get off the shoulder and throw his right hand left hooks, that worked a treat
he hardly ever missed Duddy when he did this.

Ivan Calderon vs Iribe
Round 1 Calderon
Calderon landed a couple of straight lefts
Round 2 Iribe 10/8
Calderon looked to be taking it on the
straight lefts, but he got decked by
Iribe's right hand
Round 3 Calderon
Not much landed this round, although
Calderon dictated the pace and landed
a nice straight left, clean
Round 4 Calderon
Round 5 Calderon
Round 6 Calderon
Round 7 Calderon
Round 8 Calderon
Round 9 Calderon
Round 10 Calderon
Round 11 Calderon
Round 12 Calderon
One sided fight, good performance but Calderon did too much moving
and not enough sticking imo, when he did stick he looked extremely
impressive, particularly with his quick fire combos and speed, i just
wish he would stick more, there is a bit of the sweet pea about Calderon's
ability to slip punches in close proximity to his opponents.
Way to get to Calderon imo would be to use the jab and hunt the body.
-------------------------------------------------------
Cunningham vs Troy Ross
Round 1 Cunningham(either way)
Not much in the round, thought
Cunningham dictated the pace a bit more
and landed a short punch inside
Round 2 Cunningham( either way)
Again not much in this round, Cunningham
dictated whilst Ross moved around and looked
for counters, only Cunningham is not giving him
much as he pressures behind the stick and
maintains distance
Round 3 Ross (close)
Ross scored a nice straight left hand as
he leaped on on Cunningham, he is bullrushing
in at times but not being all that effective
Round 4 Ross 10/8
Ross dropped Cunningham with a straight left hand
Round 5 fight stopped on a cut, the cut was caused
by a cut, Ross got accidentally thumbed in the eye
so the ref consulted the doctor and said it needs to be
stopped, looked as though Ross would of made this
an interesting fight.
The fight itself was like a posturing contest at times, Ross would
run around looking to counter Cunningham who was maintaining
distance so he could use his jab to control the tempo of the fight, not much action
in terms of punches landed, although it started to warm up just before it was
stopped, shame really.
-----------------------------------------
Carlos Tamara vs Luis Lasarte
Round 1 Lasarte
Lasarte landed numerous right hand left hooks
over the top, his squat style of coming in low seems
to be what caused the cut on Tamara's head
Round 2 Tamara
Tamara backing him and getting the jab on him this
round, he cant handle Tamara when he is backed up
Round 3 Tamara
Not much landed but i felt he dictated the pace of the
round with his jab
Round 4 Lasarte
Lasarte landed two early body shots and toward
the end was landing with his wild **** over the top
he caught Tamara with a clean left right before the bel
ended the round, Tamara dictated the pace but did
not land much imo
Round 5 Lasarte(close)
Lasarte took this round, which was a closish round
on the fact that he nailed Tamara toward the end
and closed better, i was thinking about giving it to
Tamara before he came on, Tamara was more aggressive
this round but still took some shots himself
Round 6 Tamara
Not much in this round but i just felt Tamara dictated
the pace of the round, hardly anything seem to land
Round 7 Lasarte (either way)
Really tough round to score, Lasarte landing the
harder punches but Tamara seemingly landing more,
excellent back and fourth round where Tamara decided
to **** it out inside
Round 8 Lasarte
Another good round to an excellent fight, Lasarte
got inside Tamara and worked him over at times
to the head and body, he clearly landed the more
signficant punches this round imo
Round 9 Tamara
Tamara seemed like he was told to take it back
to long range this round, he dictated the pace of
the round with the jab, landed an early right hand,
Lasarte came on a bit late, but Tamara also landed
a decent inside uppercut, Lasarte did'nt do enough
and tried to steal it imo
Round 10 Lasarte
Tamara being aggressive early and really letting his
hands go, although down the stretch Lasarte came back
and took the round from him by landing harder cleaner
work, he closed well
Round 11 Lasarte
Lasarte came out and got on Tamara's chest letting
his hands go, Tamara came back a little mid round
but Lasarte came back and closed it out, great fight.
Round 12 Lasarte
Lasarte definitely deserved the win imo, although it
was a very competitive fight, easily a candidate for
FOTY imo. Tamara could'nt seem to get out of the way of
Lasarte's looping shots, he (Lasarte) would bullrush Tamara at times
and because Tamara has a habbit of going straight back, it made
it easier to land those shots, Lasarte showed excellent physical
strength inside as he seemed to me to be the stronger of the two, he
landed some solid body shots when he pinned Tamara on the ropes
Tamara tried to kept it long in round 2/3 but even in those rounds
he found Lasarte hard to hit as he would either block Tamara's jabs
or move his head, even when Tamara went inside with him and
****** it out the shorter armed Lasarte got the best of it landing the
harder shots, Lasarte did not seem as comfortable when back up however
Tamara stands too upright and goes back in a straight line, which against
these short fighters who rush in is a big flaw, he can fight inside, has nice
balance, good stick, can hook off the jab, has loads of stamina.

The first three rounds saw Czyz give the Prince a hellacious beating. Towards the end of the 2nd round, Czyz dropped him with a double right hand. Williams barely got up and wobbled to his corner. At the beginning of the 3rd, Czyz again dropped Williams with another ferocious right. After Williams got up, Czyz hit him with everything but the kitchen sink. Referee Carlos Padilla allowed Williams time to recover. Czyz punched himself out, and by the end of the round, it was Williams who was landing with some right uppercut bombs. The fight made a complete turnaround from that point forward. From rounds 4-9, Williams punished Czyz with hammer like left jabs and stifling uppercuts. It was amazing how this fight turned out considering Williams was all but dead in the 3rd. At the end of the 9th, Czyz's face looked like he had been hit with a baseball bat 50 times. Czyz retired in his stool before the beginning of the 10th. A great war!!!!!!!
