Round 1 Arrellin used the jab for the most part put did
land a left hook right hand when he had Villanueva near
the ropes, good speed shown from Arrellin
Round 2 Arrellin
Villanueva was a bit more active this round as he went to the
body of Arellin but mid round he was getting dominated
by the more aggressive Arrellin who seems to be catching
him with every left hook he throws.
Round 3 Arrellin
Hammering Villanueva this round and scoring
two KD's, Villanueva very tough to survive what
he took, could of been stopped, should of been imo
Round 4 Villanueva taking punches near the ropes
and turns his back as the ref waves if off.

Richard Hall vs Yordanis Despaigne
Round 1 Despaigne
Despaigne won this with his counter right hands
Round 2 Despaigne
Despaigne countering with the right hand to the body
and scoring upstairs occasionally, Hall let his hands go
more this round
Round 3 Despaigne
Despaigne countering again with the right hand to
the head and body, also starting to land the odd
uppercut
Round 4 Despaigne
Hall did better landing punches this round but he still
got out-landed by Despaigne who cant miss him with the
counter right hand, its landed over and over
Round 5 Despaigne
Despaigne countering Hall with everything this round
Round 6 Despaigne
Round 7 Despaigne
Round 8 Despaigne
Round 9 Despaigne
Round 10 Despaigne
Boring fight, so much so that i gave up scoring it halfway through, Hall looked like
an old man who needs to retire, Despaigne whilst showed a decent defense,
albeit a little open to the right hook, did not go threw the gears and let the fight drag
on, he easily potshotted the older, slower, plodding Hall to a clean sweep on my card

Disappointing card this week imo
After the horrible Williams-Cintron fight, I watched one of the greatest 147 pound title fights of all time, the March 24, 1962 ill-fated third encounter between Emile Griffith and Benny Paret. I never saw Emile fight with so much aggression. He battered Paret for the first 5 rounds with endless pressure and combinations. Towards the end of the 6th, Griffith walked into a spectacular right cross that dropped him. Griffith got up hurt at the count of 8. If it had occurred a minute earlier, Benny would have finished him. For the next 5 rounds, the two fighters hit each other with some brutal shots, with Griffith having the advantage. In the 12th, Griffith hammered Paret with a double right, sending him to the corner where he was trapped and helpless. Griffith then landed 25 consecutive, brutal shots, including about 10 straight right uppercuts that snapped Benny's head back as he laid trapped on the ropes. Finally, referee Ruby Goldstein stopped the fight, as Paret crumbled to the canvas almost lifeless. He laid there for 10 minutes while Madison Square Garden personnel attempted to revise him. He moved his right arm, but nothing else. Emile went over to check on him in a very classy move. It is so sad that such a great fight ended in Benny dying. A must see fight. The only other 147 pound title fights I would put on this level for sheer brutality are the basilio-DeMarco fights.
Mares landing the left hook with regularity, also
landing well to the body, got his jab going to.
Round 2 Mares (slightly close)
Mares landed his left again this round, he also
put a good combo between the guard of
Perez early on, Perez came on strong down
the stretch but Mares still got the best of the
exchanges as his speed was decisive in the
exchanges.
Round 3 Perez
Tough round, Perez did better in the exchanges this
round, Mares banged it out with him but a lot of his
shots were caught on the gloves, although he did
land a nice uppercut down the stretch, however
Perez stayed with him the whole round and nailed
him at the bell with a solid right hand.
Round 4 Perez
Perez pressure begining to tell imo, Mares stayed with him
most the round but still got hit with the cleaner shots imo,
particularly the left hook, toward the end Perez was starting to
take over
Round 5 Perez
Perez just relentless, Mares is starting to feel the intense pressure
Perez is putting on.
Round 6 Mares
Mares used more movement this round to offset Perez, he did
a better job of Boxing Perez this round
Round 7 Perez (Close round)
Round 8 Mares (close)
Round 9 Mares
Better round for Mares as he was able to get off first again, he also managed to push
Perez back toward the end.
Round 10 Mares
Big round for Mares as outpunched Perez most the round landing a big left hook
early then again when Perez was on the ropes, he also seems to be hurting Perez
with the body work, Perez voluntarily started backing up
Round 11 Mares
Mares getting off first and outworking Perez imo
Round 12 Mares
Mares outworked Perez and landed the cleaner punches imo,
Mares also seemed to hurt Perez at the end, great! fight.
I felt Perez came out a bit tight Mares was able to take advantage of that
early, however when Perez started to get into his rhythm he was able to take
advantage, particularly as Mares early on seemed intent on standing in their
and trading more than he should of been, Perez went onto sweep the next 3 on
his pressure imo, however Mares stop the rot by using is legs and Boxing his way
to win round 6, round 7 & 8 were rounds which could of gone either way, i split
the differnce as you could make a case for both, in both rounds, Mares seemed to
get a second wind down the stretch and was increasingly more able to get off first
and outpunch Perez who seemed to weaken from the bodyshots toward the end.
