Ultimately a futile one,you cannot educate pork! No matter how many times I point out the facts Z, [very apt] refuses to grasp them.

I've laid out my stall and said there's nothing to choose between Hagler and Monzon for ability.
One may prefer Hagler ,another Monzon,it's all the BS that accompanies his posts that is so wearisome.

“One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and, if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words.”

You boys are back in form and trimmed up. Who is the quote from? We are about the same on Monzon vs Hagler.

The Z-ster does choose the silliest things to fight over and go on and on about--birth dates, for instance. But I am sure he is a good boy, like yourself. May I ask what is your birth order?

          Z is a 24 carat ****.
My birth order? Do you mean my star sign?
          The quote was from Goethe.

            Goethe was no journeyman.

Birth order refers to the order of birth of a family's children.

This is such a close one. Either could be classed as the number 1 middle champ of all time. Both fought incredible top ranked guys over a number of years and were the main man in the division in their respective decades.

The briscoe that fought Monzon was definitely better than the 35 y/o one Hagler fought but it doesn’t tell us much.

I would say they are on a par. There’s just so little to split them. In a fight between them you’re almost certainly going to the cards and again it’d be close. I slightly favour hagler but I’m biased as he was my favourite boxer as a kid.

                  Very tough decision.

If i had to pick one i would say Marvin Hagler because of the work he did before he officially won the title. Going into Philly and fighting the best boxers there from Monroe to Briscoe, Watts etc. He could've gotten a shot sooner than he did but then his first fight with Vito is called a draw.

Carlos Monzon has a couple more defenses i dont think Marvin was necessarily a house fighter until they couldn't ignore him anymore. Basically Hagler should have been World Champion earlier bases on his performance in the ring politics aside.

                  Head to head?
I can't call it honestly. Probably a series of fights.

Good objective points, but it should be noted that Hagler lost his first fights with both Monroe and Watts, and Briscoe was 35 years old when Hagler beat him.

                      - - Five year overlap in careers with Marv a couple of years away from a title.

                      More HOF fights for Monzon.

Never lost a title fight, ie:

Monzon > than Marv as much as I love Marv...done and dusted...
