Does anybody here recall the name? He was the first East Bloc fighter to turn professional and in America too, already in 1990. A 6'5 Russian southpaw with a 82 inch reach, he can be compared to Dimitrenko, his namesake. Tall, technical fighter, not a knockout artist but not featherfisted either. He fought and beat Tony Tubbs, Bert Cooper, Mike Hunter, James Tillis, Art Tucker and Carl Truth Williams. He fought for the WBO heavyweight title against Henry Akinwande but lost by a 10th round TKO. That was in '96. Akinwande was undefeated at the time and considered a top contender. His last fight was in January 2000 against the excellent Cuban Elieser Castillo and was ruled a draw. His final record is 28(18)-3-1.

Zolkin vs Bounty`Hunter (1) is a fantastic fight to watch, Mike`The Bounty`Hunter puts on a fantastic display of switch-hitting and simply knocks f**k out of Zolkin, he completely bedazzles the Russian.... a few years later when Bounty`Hunter is heavily into the Drugs Zolkin manages to nick a split-verdict over Hunter.... all in all Zolkin was a good fighter and to be beaten by Mike`Bounty`Hunter is no mean feat, guys like Oliver McCall & Dwight Qawi was also taken to school by Hunter.
