  • Tom "Boom Boom" Johnson

I can't find hardly any of his fights nor do I hear many speak of him.I know he was the IBF featherweight champion for many years and ranked for two years by ring magazine as the best feathweight in the world.

How comes he doesn't have the fame and recognition that a Kevin Kelley has? These were the two main featherweights before Hamed right?

I hear he wasn't the most exciting of fighters but I can't judge him as I haven't seen any of his fights outside that against Naz Hamed.

how would you rate him as a boxer and his legacy?

Tom Johnson was an excellent fighter who had some great fights against Manuel Medina. Sadly, he was never the same after the Hamed fight. He took one too many beatings. Up until the Hamed fight, he was well on his way to a HOF career. The last few years of his career may have tarnished that

would you rate Johnson as a greater win for Hamed than Kelley? because based up statistics he certainly seems to be.

I need to look up some fights of the guy

Yes, Johnson was a better fighter in his prime than Kelley. If the two would have fought in 1995, Johnson wins by decision. Hamed's victory over Johnson was maybe the most impressive of his career
