      He could have been one of the best Mexican fighters above 140 had he taken the sport more seriously. It’s frustrating watching him fight because he had so many tools. Damn his style was so fun to watch.

        I remember at one point people saying De La Hoya was ducking him for quite some time.

          Selected as a lightweight contender against then-champion Eamonn Loughran in 1996, he knocked out the WBO welterweight champion three times and eventually won by first-round knockout. After defeating Luis Ramon Campas, he relinquished the title. He then defeated former welterweight champion Jorge Vaca by TKO, and on June 7, 1997 defeated another former welterweight champion, Aaron Davis, by decision.
