Salvador Sanchez vs Arguello who wins ?


Arguello and Sanchez both had an iron chins.

On the one hand i can see Sanchez outboxing Arguello, which has happened before. On the other hand i would never count Arguello out because regardless whether Sanchez had a great chin so did Mancini and whilst Chacon was knocked out by Olivares he to had a an excellent chin imo, plus Arguello was a big SFW who never stopped coming, he got stronger as fights got into the late rounds.

We should also not forget that Sanchez was a beautiful counter puncher (Danny Lopez) with a good ability for slipping punches and he had decent power of his own. Azumah Nelson has never been knocked out like that or taken that kind of punishment. I think Sanches was at his best when the oppoent attacked him rather than when he was coming foward.

Well consider he was TKO'ing Wilfredo Gomez 7 fights later id say its pretty significant wouldn't you.

Sanchez also beat Danny Lopez 2x, Ruben Castilo, Wilfredo Gomez, Juan La Porte.

You should not comment on this thread because you probably dont know **** about either fighter outside of Nelson vs Sanchez, Arguello vs Pryor 1+2 and you internet access of coarse.

Amazing matchup.

Its nearly impossible to say. They could both come up with the goods late into a fight and pull out the perfect shot when they needed to.

I might give the edge to Arguello because of his size and aggressivness. But its one of the best fantasy fights i can imagine.

Im a fan of both fighters but Salvador Sanchez wins by UD for me. Alexis Arguello struggled with boxers, he was given a bit of boxing lesson by Vilomar Fernandez. Got a lucky decision against Jose Luis Ramirez, and was getting outboxed by Ruben Castillo until he caught up to him.

Alexis Arguello was a great fighter, no doubting that. But i think its clear he struggled against boxers especially ones that gave him movement. And i think Salvador Sanchez's great boxing skills, movement. Aswell as his countering, which Alexis Arguello had hell with agaisnt Jose Luis Ramirez, would be the key for Salvador Sanchez winning a decision.

I don't think Alexis Arguello's late rally. Would win it for him either, because Salvador Sanchez was also had great stamina, and pulled out alot of fights in the late rounds also. He also took bombs off good punchers like Azumah Nelson, Wilfredo Gomez, Danny Lopez. So i don't see Alexis Arguello KO'ing Salvador Sanchez either.

I tend to agree with what your saying, although in Arguello's defence Ruben Castillo gave Sanchez all he could handle to and it was an extremely close fight.

I think he would of beaten Fernandez if it had been a 15 round fight because he was coming on very strong at the end.

Im nit picking to make an argument for Alexis but i agree with everything you have said TBH.

Both guys were true 15 rd fighters who got stronger later in the fight. I think Sanchez wins though, better technically, and wouldnt fade late and let Arguello catch up to him.

I say Arguello, too strong, too dangerous later. They bth battled Castillo around same time and Arguello did better.
