My Dad thought Spinks would be Tyson’s toughest test. He said Spinks was a great LH. That gave me pause as a child of the 80s I was all about jacked physiques. (G.I. Joe, He-Man, Pro wrestling etc. ) and I knew Tyson was a solid 218+ pounds. I knew that was a ways to come up for Spinks power wise. My Dad had tremendous respect for Larry Holmes as he should. Very underrated, saw him knock a guy out with a jab he’d say. Said Spinks outboxed Holmes, no easy task. Wanted to see what would happen if Spinks boxed Tyson into deep water. He was never a Tyson guy ( bought us the game and rented us the greatest hits a bunch of course ) he’s only ever just wanted to see a good close fight, and may the best man win. He was going to pay to see it close circuit. He had a bad feeling when in the Locker room Spinks said he wasent concerned about Tyson’s power. The fight was over so fast it’s hard to even know what Spinks did wrong or could have done better. He took it to the body and head. But yeah I felt bad that the fight was over so fast for his sake and expenditure. Us kids loved Tyson but even at that young age I knew boxing came before Mike. I knew Ali had to have his Frazier. ( I read about those fights before even seeing them ) If Tyson smashed everyone that wouldn’t be good for boxing, that much I knew. When Tyson finally fought Holyfield he’d take bets on whoever doubted him. I think the odds were like what 25+ by fight night? He’d only take bets at even odds because he didn’t want to ruin anyone’s night. He’s better than us kids when he’s giving an informed option, but he can get it wrong and I think that helps keep him interested. There’s no replacement for experience. I remember just before the bell sounded for the Manny vs Ricky fight he tempered everyone’s expectations with a “Don’t be surprised if poor Ricky gets cut to ribbons.” I had not heard that term in a long while but now I know exactly what it looks like. We liked both fighters, and just wanted an exciting fight. The most credit I can give Ricky his how well he promoted that fight. I saw Many before Barrera and I told everyone I could about him. “He basically just jab jab straight lefts but he does it so well it doesn’t matter”.uncle ben likes this.

He headbutted Mike causing a severe cut where Mike reacted badly, the whole reason for the bite fight when Field was butting him again. Oddly when Lar elbow opened up Field like a stuck pig, he also reacted badly.
Off grid ain't working for U, but maybe U looking for BigFoot full time now...
