  • If Ali had 2 more tune-up fights before the Frazier fight?

If Muhammad Ali would have had 2 more tune-up fights before he fought Joe Frazier the 1st time would it have been a different Ali? Would it had been a different fight?

I would like to hear your thoughts and comments

Ends up in a clear decisive win for Ali as was the case with the last two of their quite overrated trilogy

ali dominated the early rounds in 1971, its clear he didnt have the energy to hold up by rushing into things....

I think it would've been closer down the stretch than was the case when they actually fought, I also don't think he had recovered fully from the Bonavena fight. It would've been a close decision though because Frazier just wouldn't be denied that victory over Ali.

would have made no difference, Bonavena & Quarry was the toughest opponents possible, IMO Muhammad Ali fought the best fight of his career March 8th 1971 and it was not good enough to beat Prime Joe Frazier... i am not saying Frazier was better than Ali but that night of March 8th Frazier was ready to die in the ring rather than be beaten.."What a tough guy he was"

If the question is " Would Ali have faired better over Frasier with another couple of fights first ? " Absolutely. Smokin' Joe was one intense and tough guy with a determination NOT to allow Ali to take what was his. Ali should have had more fights just to get his total confidence back.

He would have won that fight if he didn't mess around some much.

I don't think it would have mattered no matter how many tune-up fights Ali had.Frazier wanted him BAD,real bad.He was determined to beat Ali no matter what the cost.

Yes,Ali would have looked better with a couple more tune-up fights.Yes,he would have done more dancing since a couple more tune-up fights would have helped get his legs back. But in no way was Joe Frazier going to lose the way he fought on March 8th 1971.Yes,it would have been a little closer fight but Frazier still wins a UD.

The way Frazier fought on March 8th 1971 he would have given Ali H**L had he fought him before his 3 1/2 year lay-off.The 1967 Ali might have beaten Frazier in a close decision that could have gone either way....If he was fighting the Joe Frazier of March 8th 1971.Yes,Ali would have beaten him in a rematch, but it would have been a close hard fought fight the 1st time.

To answer the question.Yes,a couple more tune-up fights would have helped Ali,and I believe we would have seen a different Ali,but I see Frazier still winning the fight.
