Do anyone know the origin of the name 'Dammy Canner', 'Dami Cainer', or 'Dami Caner'?

I'm doing research about boxing and I came across this title 'Dammy Canner', 'Dami Cainer', or 'Dami Caner'. It's a title given to an Indian boxer (1960's) It was written in regional language not in english, making it hard to google it. Some sources say it's a name or title of a legendary boxer who was active before Ali's era.
