McCallum claims Hearns avoided him, so I wonder; who would win if they fought? Although Mike was a prime technician and body puncher, I doubt he would beat The Hitman. Tommy's jab and reach would win him the fight. I say UD or MD. Depends on when and at what weight they fought too. Hearns had problems with Kinchen and Dewitt, but if they fought at 154 Tommy would definitely win.

McCallum would catch up with Hearns an stop him late imo.
McCallum would get out quicked early on and Hearns would be effective with the jab but Mike would eventually start getting inside Hearns and ripping his body to take him out late in the fight once he had been worn down a bit.
Common opponent Luigi Minchillo, unfortunately ive never seen his fight with Hearns but i have seen his fights with Duran and McCallum and be all account Hearns did not stop him, he gave Duran trouble early in their fight and went the distance but the bottom line is neither could stop him, so it was McCallum's intention to prove he could do a better job on him than those guys and he did, he did a paint job on Minchillo and forced his corner to stop the fight because he was shipping so many punches.

I think this would've been a great stylistic matchup, maybe McCallum would've been able to break Hearns down like he was able to do against McCrory, another Kronk trainer lanky fighter with a good right hand. Or maybe Hearns could've established his jab from the outside and land his right hand when McCallum dropped it going backwards like Don Curry managed to do. It's an intriguing fight.
An account from McCallum himself might lead some insight into how the fight would've went, McCallum said he sparred with Hearns when they were both Kronk fighters, Steward asked McCallum to try to slip Hearns' jab and land a shot on Hearns, McCallum ended up landing 3 shots on Hearns that left Hearns stunned, he couldn't believe McCallum managed to do that on him.

Perfect example of how i see the fight going. McCrory gave McCallum trouble early with his speed and reach but once McCallum found his rhythm and started going downstairs he broke McCrory up.
