He was a tough one. Went down four or five times against Hearns in the 5th I believe, but it took another four rounds to finally stop him. Beat some good fighters, Jeff Harding for instance. Lost to him as well. He was one of the best British lhws for sure. They didn't have many great fighters in that division. Conteh is the only other one I can recall.

3 Great!! fights with Jeff Harding. The word war when describing a good fight is waaay!! to over used but these fights were absolute wars.

Harding is such a tough SOB its untrue, he kept coming against Mike McCallum and McCallum had hit him with every counter punch in the book, that was a war to.

Gotta give a mention to Andries though, huge heart, he had a good fight with Czyz to.

Not even Andries himself knows how old he is.. Can remember it being a well known fact & when he was officially listed at 35, Andries insisted he was around 3 years older.. Does anyone know what the problem with his Birth Cert was?..

Dennis Andries was a real tough guy known as "The Hackney Rock" he beat up Tony Sibson when Sibson fancied his chances of moving up and beating Dennis, i can also remember Britains Errol Christie suffering a shocking KO loss to Belguim Jose Seyes in the opening round, Seyes came back over here a few months later to fight Andries and Dennis destroyed him, Andries was also good enough to beat Bobby Czyz, Jeff Harding and drew with Alex Blanchard..

He was gonna fight Donny Lalonde but Lalonde retired before it could happen. Shame. That would've been a good fight.

yes it would have been a great fight Andries v LaLonde, when Andries fought Thomas Hearns he hit the deck several times during the fight but actually IMO had Hearns on the floor just before the fight was stopped, Manny Stewart praised Andries for his toughness and said if Andries learned to fight he would have no problem regaining the title.. Andries moved over to Detroit and became a Kronk fighter and regained his former title under the tutorlege of Stewart

Ive only seen his 1st fight with Harding but it goes down on my list as the best slugfest ive ever seen, wouldnt say a skillful boxing match but just a battle of who's gonna break first
The best thing about the fight was that most of us thought andries was gonna outclass Harding and it looked like it was happening for the first 5 or 6 rounds but it just kept getting more and more brutal until Harding finally hurt Dennis at the end of the 11th
I might go watch it now
