  • Does freddie Roach deserve induction into the ibhof as a trainer?

Saw the real Sports segment on Roach. I believe he is HOF worthy. What does the rest of the board think?

Yeah I think so. He's trained a lot of top flight guys and has had much more success than failures at the top level.

Who's had the better career, Roach or nacho Beristain?

I believe Freddie's track record is more than enough to warrant an induction.

George Gainford is in and he only had one track on his record.

I think he deserves to go in. He's had quite a few success stories.

That's hard to say, both of them have trained pound for pound fighters, both of them have had more success than failure. Maybe I'd give the edge to Roach just because he's trained a more diverse stable of fighters, I mean if you look at the top guys that Beristain has trained, they fight with pretty much the same style with some differences here and there but basically it's the same style.

                    True enough.

But you could also say Freddie is somewhat of a "Johnny come lately" with a lot of his fighters, having only taken a few of them to World Titles on his own from the beginning. Guys like Tyson, Toney, Hopkins, Oscar ; they were all celebrated athletes before Freddie got to train them.

Whereas Beristain had to make his from scratch, mostly.
