He did have benn down ...but Benn Got up and battered him from pillar to post...Dewitt took alot of heavy shots in their fight !

Was he? His only losses from 88 to the end of his career were against Kalambay, Benn, and Toney. All of them were elite fighters.

When he was still in this supposed "prime", he'd lose to guys like Robbie Sims, Milton McCrory, and Joe Quinones. None of them were elite fighters.

I wouldn't say that he ever had much of a prime but he was definitely through by the time he fought Toney.

He had some of his best performances in losing efforts against Sims, McCrory and Hearns, until being upset by an unknown in Jose Quinones. He resurrected his career with wins over Thornton and LaPaglia, but was picked apart and knocked out by the normally light-punching Sumbu Kalambay.

DeWitt was not about to quit however and came back with wins over Robbie Sims in a rematch and Matthew Hilton. Benn basically ended his career and the later comeback was a futile effort.

Nigel Benn beat Quinones...can't remember wether it was by ko or decision. He mentioned him among his quality opponents in a tv appearence in 1990.

i was of the oppinion Benn would struggle against Quinones but he completely wrecked the guy with a savage two-fisted attack early in the fight.. Doug Dewitt was a tough cookie

Toney gave him one hell of an ass kicking, DeWitt had a great jaw to take that many shots.
