  • The Could have been Dream fights for Forrest

As a Tribute to the late two-time former World Welterweight and Junior Middleweight champion Vernon Forrest, I'd try to look back at his memorable boxing career and the interesting match ups for the Viper.

I was hoping he'd fight Sergio Martinez for the WBC 154lbs title by the end of the year, and its not happening anymore.

The 3 big names in Forrest resume are Mosley, Mayorga, and Quartey while the missed 3 were Oscar Dela Hoya, Tito Trinidad and Kostya Tszyu (who defeated Forrest in the amateurs) I didnt included Winky Wright since Winky and Vernon happened to be good friends.

Now I wont go into further details on how Forrest could have done against an Oscar or Tito, as most of us would probably pick both (even Tszyu) to beat the Viper, but Vernon is the most avoided welterweight in his prime, like Paul Williams today, the Viper is not your kind of opponent any boxing superstar wanna get into the ring.

I'd pick Vernon to beat all 3 to be honest. Tito would give him the most trouble. Oscar ducked tall fighters for most of his career. He fought 3, and lost twice. Now he may have been robbed against Tito (who he ran like a ***** from), but the 1 victory he had was equally as much of a robbery (beating Sturm).

Edit: My bad, Genaro Hernandez was also tall. Oscar was expected to lose that fight in many eyes too. And Genaro was schooling him early. Luckily for Oscar, Genaro's nose was all ****ed up before the first bell even rang. Also, I guess Vargas was kinda tall. Luckily for Oscar his back was already ****ed up by then. Then there was Campas...who was a good ways over the hill. Meh. I guess I just don't like Oscar.
