    Unfortunately no.

His best wins were against Shane Mosley, that alone won't take you to the HOF.
very good fighter indeed, with good speed and power, but not HOF material.

and i'm not being insensitve. If he was alive this thread wouldnt exist so it's pointless thinking it just because something tragic has happened.
Please for the love of God explain this logic.

Now I'm not saying he deserves to be in the hall, but because he died is exactly the reason why this thread exists. I'm sure he was one of the people you'd least expect to end up getting killed.

      Still a very solid career

I said it wrong. I know Hamed is already eligible, I was attempting to say that I believe he will be inducted shortly. He was a great fighter, only losing to barrera and retired in his prime. few fighters can make this claim. He was the best feather for many years, and is more deserving of the hall of fame than Gatti, Corrales or McGuigan. Hamed had hall of fame ability, just like Forrest. He is disliked by many fans probably because he was brash, but he was no more ****y than Roy Jones.

nah not a hof but a damn good fighter who has 2 big wins over shane. the losses to mayorga really hurt his chance to be a hof and also the win against ike was a robbery but he will be remembered as a very good fighter

For my standards, Id say no.

But there are plenty HOF fighters who don't have an impressive resume, where as I'd say Vernon has an impressive one.

His resume isn't HOF worthy. There are plenty of two division champions who won't get a spot at Canastota. And add to it the fact that his list of wins is very top heavy (Mosley twice, a disputed win over Quartey, Phillips), then it gets awfully thin real quick. A guy like Donald Curry has a better resume and he's not in the HOF. Forrest may be a step above Starling in that department, though.

But going strictly by ability, he's a HOFer in my eyes. He was probably one of the best long-range boxers in the last 20 or so years at WW. Add to it his great technique, subtle defensive techniques/manuvers, footwork, solid punching power, and good variety to the body and the head, and you've got yourself a guy who would have been hell for many of the better WWs on his very best night

I'm going to have to say no. He just missed out. A win over Sergio Martinez, Paul Williams, or another top fighter from 154-160 would have made him a shoe-in, IMO. Guys like Jung Koo Chang, Hiroyuki Ebihara, and Lloyd Marshall are more deserving to be honest, but if Forrest got in, I wouldn't complain at all.

Wilfredo Gomez's resume is clearly stronger than Naseem Hamed's. And he's far and away a superior fighter; perhaps even one of the most complete in history. But I agree with you wholeheartedly that he deserves to be a HOFer. I'll be upset if he doesn't get in because he's definitely done more than somebody like McGuigan, an old timer like Willard, or Zaragoza.

Vernon is right on the borderline I think. It really is touch and go with a guy like him.

I don't think so, his career reminds me a little of Donald Curry, really well skilled fighter was supposed to be the next big thing (although Curry was farther along than Forrest was in the hype department), loses in an upset, Curry to Honeyghan, Forrest to Mayorga. Moves up in weight and has moderate success at the higher weight class. So no, I don't think Forrest is a HOFer but a really good fighter at his peak, which was in the first Mosley fight IMO.
