  • Glen Johnson vs Past ATG LHW Fighters

How does the road warrior fair against past ATG LHW fighters like Archie Moore, Ezzard Charles, Bob Foster, Billy Conn, John Conteh, Victor Galindez, Matthew Sadd Muhhamad, Michael Spinks, Tommy Loughran, Joey Maxim.

I feel Moore, Charles, Loughran, Foster, Spinks, Conn would all most likely defeat Johnson, do they would have a fight on there hands.

But I feel Johnson on his best day could get wins over Maxim, Sadd Muhhamad, Galindez, and Conteh.

Loses to all of them... Massively overrated... Had little to shout about b4 RJJ.. Crude, slow & game.. Very similar to Dennis Andries.. Your right that no one beats him easy though.. In my opinion, it's UD's all the way.. Has a chance against Galindez.. But that's it...

I don't think he beats any of them, to be quite honest, and I actually rate his abilities and am a fan.

Tottaly disagree with you. Holds wins over Sam Garr(20-0), Thomas Ulrich(20-0), Eric Harding, Clinton Woods, Roy Jones Jr, Antonio Tarver, Montell Griffin.

That is a good resume of wins. When he beat Jones's had only lost 2 and 4 later jones would go on to fight Calzaghe, and Calzaghe didnt beat him up as bad as glen did.

I feel your judging glen off his record and you shoundt do that. he was robbed against dawson and Sven Ottke. and most of his losses should be wins.

glen is extrmemly strong, cast ironed chinned, great will and great work rate. johnson is a great fighter. and someone who you should show more respect to.

          He's very underrated round here.

If Glen can get wins over a 2004 Roy Jones Jr and a prime Antonio Tarver, he can pull upsets over Maxim, Sadd Muhhamad, Galindez, and Conteh on his very best day.

There's no such thing as beating Ottke.. Glenns management should'a known that.. He'd have got the nod over RJJ, B/HOP & Calzaghe to.. I never take Ottke seriously in these debates... He was a gutless worm that couldn't climb the stairs to an aeroplane.. I was brought up on John Conteh, & he's the most underrated LH of all time.. Clinton Woods (never seen a good word said about him) aint all that, but gave Johnson all he could handle.. So what's wrong with Woods???
Can you see Woods beating Maxim, Saad Muhummad, Conteh & Galindez?... Or better still.. Can you ever see anyone writting a thread about him?... Er... No & no again...But, I think the pair had enough fights to use this as an example.. Love watching Glenn though.. He's game alright...

boxing maths dosent work out so dont bring woods into play. conteh was beaten by Eddie Duncan and Mate Parlov. two fighters who glen was much better than. so on his best day i do feel on his very best day glen would of beat conteh.

your allowed your own opinion, but i just feel you should of showed glen a little bit more respect.

I feel Maxim would be too wily and crafty, Conteh too quick and talented, Muhammad even stronger and tougher. Prime Galindez is a bit underrated himself, he was much more consistent than Johnson in his prime and had a good reign.

This is prime for prime though, Johnson has a chance of upsetting them if they're not at their best.

He could beat the Saad Muhammad who had gone through many wars and was physically worn out.

He could beat the Conteh who was suffering from hand injuries and could only use his left.

He could beat the washed up Maxim who later on didn't try to win as much as he tried to survive.

Nope... Because no one ever brings Woods into play, do they?... And now poor old Glenn's getting disrespected, cos boxing maths doesn't work out!!
Well... They only had 3 fights, so I suppose there's no common ground then...
I like Glenn, & could name at least a dozen LH's he could beat, but it aint the guys you put up...
