I'd be suprised to, if it were the Krays that bumped him off.. Although he posed in several photos with them, I don't think there was ever a motive, but the circumstances were a bit su****ious.. Please don't think that I'm blackening his name, but rumors had circulated about his sexuality, & it has been suggested that something may have been going on with Ronnie Kray.. However, I have no real information to varify this, & would strongly suspect it was hearsay..
I've heard the ****sexuality rumours, that he was "caught in the act", which was considered a disgrace in far more conservative times. There were also rumours about Freddie being heavily in debt to the wrong people, or that he got caught up in the "Jack the Stripper" murders. Guess we'll never know for sure.

Not sure if I read it in a biography or autobiography of him, but later in life he was also tortured by terrible migraines and blackouts, no doubt a result of his punishing ring career. Bit of a tragic soul, really.

Yeah... The more you look into it, the more suicide comes into the picture.. Just don't want some idiot to come on here, calling him a coward.. Nothing could'a been further from the truth..

I would be interested in finding out more about his style or maybe even seeing some footage, as he is the only world champion ever from bournemouth, where i live. Just thought I would ask seeing as some of the people on this forum are very knowledgable.

Thanks ( Green K will be given )

Can someone explain to me why he never gave Archie Moore or Ezzard Charles a shot at his title? Was it his fault or the powers to be? Arguably the two greatest 175 pounders and not once did they get to fight Mills for the title.

Mills lost the title in his first defence against Joey Maxim, another Hall of Famer, so it's not as if he was padding the record while ignoring the top guys. Charles was heavyweight champion by that point anyway.

Spot on Kid, & Freddie was kinda lucky to do it in the 1st place.. as already mentioned, he was very game, but not that talented... Bit like Terry Downes..

If anyone should be blamed it's Gus Lesnevich who chose to fight heavyweights in non-title bouts and defended his title against the heavily padded up Billy Fox (twice) and Freddie Mills (twice).

Twins loved having their pictures taken with anyone famous. Yeah i've heard all those stories kind of take them with a pinch of salt. As for the suicide heard convincing arguments both ways. Never know I guess.
