Actually not the case, Kalamby wasn't known for a terrible defence but a rather solid one. If you watch his first fight against Mike McCallum you see this. He's show's a great defence and pull's some slick moves out of his arsenal to avoid punchers against a world class fighter in McCallum.

I think Nunn just caught him with picture perfect shot and right on the button. That may have knocked out most fighters.

Oh right, but you just said ''Nice punch and Kalamby had a good chin for sure but terrible defense'' I thought you ment Kalamby had a terrible defence in general, as you never stated you only ment in the Nunn fight.

Sometimes that happens in boxing: One guy rolls a seven while his opponent rolls snake eyes. There's always a chance element that makes fights compelling, if everything went "by the numbers" there wouldn't be any upsets and I think the sport would be worse off for it.

BTW Southpaw, I apologize if I got sharp with you the other day. I was irritated by a couple of other posters and I think it carried over into my discussions with you.

You need to calm down my friend you are throwing haymakers when only a jab is needed. If you lower your level you will be thought of as unknowing and your points not given regard which would be a shame. If you wish to see a decent jab look at my post in the Angelo Dundee list thing. Stick up for yourself but don't lose your temper.
Anyhow some advice from an old man take it or leave it

And your point is well taken. I admit I don't have a lot patience with certain posters and my approach is more that of Dempsey than Ali. In the case of the discussion with Southpaw I let my irritation over a couple of nimrods seep into my posts with him. I don't like that: A good poster like Southpaw shouldn't have to bear the brunt of my irritation. Hence my apology. I think when you've been around for a while (you better! You're rapidly becoming one of the good posters!) you'll notice the tenure of my posts are very different depending on who I'm responding to. Caustic and brutal with nuthuggers and people who make inane posts, and rather on the academic side with the good posters (with some humour included).

From what i read, Michael Nunn was avoided by both Leonard and Toney( for a rematch). That's impressive. I never heard about Toney ducking no one before that.

Exactly, plus his foot speed was very good for an over 6'0 middleweight. I wonder why boxers today don't show that same type of fluent foot work/dance like Leonard, Nunn, Norris, Ali ect. The only one's who has it today is Yuri Foreman and Dawson. I think Nunn as a middleweight today would be pretty dominate.
