We know that Ezzard Charles beat Archie Moore 3 times in the 1940's although Moore impressed ringside observers with his performances against who at that time was already considered a great fighter.
The first fight ended in a clear unanimous decision for Charles, the rematch was a majority decision for Charles and the third fight ended in a knockout in the eight for Charles who was in trouble until coming back with a flurry of punches.
What would've happened if the two were to meet as heavyweights in the 1950's? Lets say about 1953 or 1954 when Charles was losing to the likes of Nino Valdes and Harold Johnson and Archie Moore was beating them. Was Charles still good enough to beat Moore at that point?
For whatever reason this match-up has always interested me.
