Carmen Basilio was aiite. He wasn't anything super special, but he did have some handles. Be beat a 37 year old Robinson. Even though SRR was 37, he still beat him.

Speaking of the Sugarman, did he have power or what? LaMotta and Basilio said he really didn't have any power. SRR had more speed than power. But then again, speed is power.

Watch Robinson's fight with Graziano or the second Fulmer fight. Robinson had power to spare.

Actually from what I know, LaMotta and Basilio both said that Robinson had a lot of punching power.

WALLACE: How does Ray rate with other men you've fought, Carmen?

BASILIO: He's a great fighter. Probably the hardest puncher that I ever fought, and undoubtedly gave me the toughest fight that I ever had.

From what i've seen, i'd say that SRR had tremendous power because of his speed. LaMotta probably said that cus he's a freak of nature and has a concrete head. Basillio? Maybe he was exagerrating to make himself look strong. Not that he wasn't strong in the first place.

SRR fought Graziano huh? I Sugarman whooped on him right? Fcuk Robinson had over 120 fights in his career. That's crazy. Why can't boxers these days go through that many fights. All the officials protect fighters anyways. It's not as brutal as it was in the past. Don't get me wrong, boxing's still brutal, but not the way it was in the 1940s.

I'm on a B&W boxing hype right now. I was never really into the B&W fight films. But i watched "Raging Bull" a few weeks ago, so that triggered it. i also like watching the way they trained back in the day.

I wish i had some Sonny Liston fights. I never watched the Sonny Liston fights they had on ESPN, i should.

They really had a different style back then. It wasn't as slick as it is today. Have you ever watched the old old fight films? Hella primitive. The fighters looked one dimensional, but i don't think they were. Yaddada?

I'm on a B&W boxing and bareknuckle boxing hype right now. Gotta expand my mental horizons.

I love watching Jack Dempsey. Never was a Max Baer fan. Or a Max Schmeling an either.
