Joe Frazier if you check the backgrounds I guess.
Truthfully stylewise, Marciano and yes story the first one was based on the Wepner - Ali figh.

Mickey Ward hands down. For anyone who disagrees, read "Irish Thunder," the biography on Ward's life & what he's been through. He's a blue collar guy who struggled all of his life and came from a place where life beats most people down (Lowell, Mass). Crack, alcohol abuse, gangs, violence, prostitution among other things were rampent in this area when Mickey Ward was growing up. He had many family members messed up on this stuff.

He didn't come from money. He was the most gifted in the ring. BUT he could brawl and absorb punishment like Rocky could. To me Irish Mickey Ward is one of the many reasons that I love boxing.

So i guess you could say Chuck Wepner is the realy Rocky! but never had as much sucess as Balboa.
It's a common misconception that he went the distance with Ali, he didn't. He lost by a TKO near the end of round 15, it never went to the scorecard.
