** There are precious few better boxers than Eder Jofre and he was a life long vegetarian.

The Golden Bantam was in the same class as Sugar Ray Robinson in their era. He could arguably do more in the ring than the great Sugar himself.

Eder Jofre was a brillant fighter, he ruled the bantamweight for 5 years 60-65,then would lose a razor close decision to Japans best ever fighter Fighting Harada, then would lose a UD 15 in the rematch.

After this he would retire for 3 years, and then would come back and go 25-0,which included winning the WBC featherweight title and defending it once.

Zeljko Mavrovich was also vegetarian, which could be the reason why his career was cut short. After the Lewis fight, he got sick for some reason and never fought again, and Bert Sugar felt that might has something to do with it. He was a good fighter and his chin was granite.
