Could Mayweather Sr and prime Tyson worked out?

I was just thinking the other day of trainers that Mike could have hired after he let Rooney go. I was wondering if the strict no nonsense defense first style of Floyd Mayweather Sr could have been a fit with prime Mike. Of course, the timeline would have made it impossible for it to happen since I think Floyd was in jail at the time, but just thinking about it for conversation sake. I also thought of Eddie Futch who trained Joe Frazier as a possibility as well to carry Mike along, actually its funny that later he would work with Eddie's protege in Freddie Roach for a fight or two.

I don't think anybody coulda duplicated or outdone the work Rooney did wit Mike. He was wit Mike in his camp since he started out as a kid.

Rooney was more than just a trainer to Tyson apparently. They were real clodse, so you can imagine how chaotic things got pnce Don King got into Tysons life, allegedly 'insisting' he fire Rooney

Rooney was also a guy who didn't take **** from his fighters, which is why Tyson wanted him out, he couldn't push Rooney around.

Maywathters style of teaching wouldn't fit in with Tyson.

Where did you get that one from?

Nearly everyone says it was Don King's doing that got Tyson to fire Rooney and all the other "legal" nonesense he got Tyson to do

Most people don't know this, but Rooney was a liability.

He's always been alcoholic. A few years ago he was arrested for drunk driving.

We might never know what really went on in their personal lives, but this definitely contributed to the firing of Rooney.

I doubt at that time Don King would have allowed it. Even if he did Tyson at that time didn't want anyone to discipline him, he wanted to be surrounded by "Yes Men" which is what happened and is what led to hos downfall!!

no way, tyson had a pick a boo defence, and only rooney and atlas could of taught him that with success, as great as floyd is, he trains slick fighters(bar hatton, and even then i didnt see a major improvement) using techniques such as the shoulder roll etc..i think if you are talking about what trainer instead of rooney could of carried on from rooneys work, then idk, Roach(i kno he lost with tyson) was good as he didnt interfere with tysons style as much, and tbh if you see the danny williams fight, tyson was very good in the early rounds, but tysons lack of training led to his lack of conditioning and then faded as rounds progressed.
