A tough one! I think Duran was slightly better but Julio was more entertaining for longer and on top for longer too. If I made a p4p all time list, Duran would be high on that list! Fucking mental fighter/maniac/Charles Manson lookalike. I think they are both awesome, but although Duran was better Chavez was the warrior who would never have overeaten and said No Maas. Then again Duran rose from the ashes of No Maas which was seriously against the odds. Everyone loves an ubelieveable comeback which is why I give it to Duran by a whisker.

Duran was the better fighter and in my opinion quite clearly so.

Chavez unified the junior-welter titles with Medrick Taylor, both a junior-welter and welter champion. Taylor lost by knock-out, he was as good as Ray Leonard, but better than Barkley and Esteban De Jesus, whom Duran defeated to unify the lightweight titles.
Roberto Duran took the world lightweight title by knocking out the Scottish Ken Buchanan who was a better boxer than Mario Martinez whom Chavez dethroned for the super-featherweight title of the WBC. However, he was not a better boxer than Edwin Rosario
      I can't say I agree with that.

No mas but not a beating

Duran did not say no mas because Sugar Ray was beating him down,he said no mas because Ray was doing more running than fighting and Duran got tired of chasing him!!

The guys logic is ******! He is saying Chavez is better because of what happened on paper. How he really should be comaring it is by asking himself prime v prime who do ya think would have won? Duran by a long mile.

I thought the writer was extremely repetitive and showed a huge bias toward Chavez . I was a Chavez fan as well, but to compare him to Duran is absolutely absurd. They both had great careers, great wins over top fighters and great power. But to match them together, especially in their prime with Duran's power and ferocity and Chavez' straight up robotic style would not bode well for Chavez. Duran would methodically dismantle Chavez. Duran by mid to late round tko.
