How good was Gans opponent? He seemed really sloppy. Fighter's back then had a lot more wild agression and fought in the clinch a lot better imo. Gans looked great though.

Gans' opponent was Kid Herman, a title contender.

Hard to say how good he was, there is no information on him, but he must've been very tough, Gans was one of the only two men to stop him.

Herman lost a decision to McFarland afterwards and retired.
