False...The rules are the fighter....The Fighter is to listen to the referee and whatever pace, count the referee has, it is the referee's count and instructions to the fighter that is official. Not the official time keeper. The exchange between the time keeper and referee is exactly that. between them two.

He did exactly as he was supposed to do. He took as long as he could to clear his head, and got up before THE REFEREE reached 10. Exaclty what they train fighters to do.
