Ali was more of a traditional outside fighter with his use of the jab and right crosses, whereas Roy Jones' best punch was the left hook, a more effective punch in close.

Jones was Ali got caught too many times and actually looked beatable against lesser opponents even in his prime, where as Jones never looked beatable in his prime and never allowed his opponents to hit him with a flush shot.

Lou Dell Valle and Eric harding didn't think so, and these guys were not in the upper echelon in the divisions. Different fighters would have success at boxing Jones from the outside and timing him on the way in. I have never seen a peak Ali out boxed before. So, my pick would be Ali for the better outside boxer.

Ali, but p4p makes it tough: A very good case could be made for both Benny and Ray Leonard plus Robinson.
