Whoa. Seems like a cool set. It's probably the best outside Ali's greatest fights and the fights with Hagler, Hearns, Duran and Leonard.

      I wouldn't disagree.

This was an amazing fight, almost as good as Frankin/Saad's first fight with Marvin Johnson.
At some point in that outstanding round, Saad throws 18 left hooks in a row as Lopez is on the ropes. He gets a bit tired and Lopez comes back with a vicious onslaught catching Saad with multiple haymakers causing him to be nearly out on his feet. Incredibly Saad comes back hurting Lopez! Whoa. What a round!

Here's the rematch between Matthew Saad Muhammad and Marvin Johnson. Unfortunately I can't seem to find their first fight but this rematch is quite entertaining as well.

This is the first fight in which Matthew Franklin fought as Matthew Saad Muhammad.

The man who eventually dethroned the war-worn Saad Muhammad, Dwight Qawi vs Leon Spinks.

Marvin Johnson wins the WBA light heavyweight title.

Michael Spinks knocks out Gerry Cooney!

I seen one of there battles not sure if it was the 1st or 2nd fight. Seen it on espn classics in the mid 90's and as a young boxing fan i was amazed by the fierce of this fight both guys took some crazy shots. I even remember them talking about Yacqi Lopez and saying how he came back to boxing and at first he was geting beat up in sparring but he never quit and then he was kicking ass in sparring and the rest is history. Muhammad was a badass fighter and Lopez was very tough. Great fight!

This might be the best period in LHW history and one could argue that it's the best crop ever in ANY division.
Exactly, great division back then and more often than not, they fought each other.

Ha. Compare that with today where the best division is welterweight and we have a champion who doesn't fight anybody. Disgrace.
