  • How would you rank these lightheavies?

From 1 thru 10, how would you rank these lightheavyweights from the 1970's and 1980's?
Mathew Saad Muhammad, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, Marvin Johnson, Victor Galindez, Yaqui Lopez, Mike Spinks, Mike Rossman, Dwight (Braxton) M. Qawi, James Scott, John Conteh.

I personally think that was the "golden era" of lightheavyweights. So many talented fighters with heart. And instead of ducking each other, they actually acted like champions and fought each other.

I would be very interested in hearing some of your opinions of these men as well.
    Thanks!

I think Saad Muhammad was in some incredible wars. Looked like he was about to drop and then...LOOK OUT!
Eddie M. Muhammad seemed like a lazy fighter. Big right hand.
Marvin Johnson reminded me of the Buffalo Bills when they were so good, but always finished second in the 4 super bowels. Good fighter.
    Galindez-rugged mawler
Yaqui Lopez got the most from what talent he had. Big heart. Chamion in another era.
I think I would rate Mike Spinks as the best of this bunch. In fact, easily.
Mike Rossman seemed like a whinney crybaby who was always mad at someone or something.
Dwight Qawi was a tough tough guy with a hard style to fight. I would have loked to see him in with Marvin Johnson, Eddie M. Muhammad & Galindez
James Scott was a very well conditioned, one dimensional bully who couldn't adjust to pressure fighters.
John Conteh seemed like the weak link in your group. Don't really know much about him.
    Good memories here.

I admit that I know little of these blokes except for Galindez, I'll put him at the top and accept your order for the rest. Conteh was good too and Saad Muhammed was ok but I'd be guessing.

Good post in an interesting thread. Would pick you up on Conteh though might be biased being British but for skill he would look up to no one on the list but unfortunately he wasn't blessed re injuries and I dint think he applied himself as well as he should

Saad Muhammad, Galindez, and Mustapha Muhammad B or C level?

              That's just plain wrong

Mustapha Muhammad definitely is a B- fighter. Saad Muhammad is a borderline B/B+

So what would that make Travis Cloud or Jean Pascal in comparison?

Pascal(extremely flawed but you can't ignore his win/draw over Dawson and B-Hop)is a B level fighter and Cloud is a ? at this point.
