After a great 73 fight career (72-1), in which he had anhilated the lightweight division, before moving up to welterweight and beating a 24 year old, 27-0 champ named Ray Leonard, who would go on to become an ATG, I would say Duran was entitled to a "no mas."

I'm a fan of Duran's myself, but I don't believe he's entitled to ****. Especially not when the other guy's boxing the hell out of him. I mean if you're the champ, then fight like it. Also, it's not like at that point Duran was done. He was as much in his prime as Leonard. If anything the guy stayed around longer than he should have and he probably did it cause of the "No Mas" incident. It's unfortunate but it's part of his legacy.

A 30 year old with 73 fights is in as much of his prime as a 25 year old with 28 fights? You're kidding right?

i think you guys need to read his autobiography, cause he never said "no mas". he said he was'nt going to fight a clown anymore. he wanted to fight, not been in a circus. "no mas" was dreamed up by the ref and the media.

Roberto Duran and Sugar Ray Robinson were my all time favorite fighters. I don't love Duran any less for Ray Leonard 2, but he did lose a touch of luster off his legacy. He would have been better appreciated had it ended like the Hearns fight, with Roberto flat on his face. ANYTHING would have been better than to just stop fighting.

You mean like Liston did in the first Ali fight?

The ref looks like a gay guy trying to swat a fly.

They look like 2 kindergartens and Leonard was picking on Duran. So Duran decided to go tell the teacher.
