I think Joe came in right under 200 lbs and Conn weighed about 175 or there abouts.

The only thing I have ever heard regarding the weight was that Joe Louis had to struggle to make weight and because of that he was very drained in the fight hence the reason he damn near lost.

EDIT : I left out one crucial bit, it was said that the contract stipulated that Joe come in under 200 pounds. Thats why he had to basically drain himself a few days before the fight.

Boxrec has Louis at 207 and Conn at 182, but they're not always perfect/

Yes, that was their 2nd bout which took place 5 years later in 1946. Louis did come in under 200 in their 1st bout in 1941, like the contact stated, 199½ to be exact and Conn was listed at 174, BUT some say he weighed several pounds under that, but who knows for sure.

Less then 4 weeks before that bout Louis weighed in at 201¾ for the Buddy Baer bout, so he only had to lose approx. 2 pounds. Also, less then 4 weeks before that bout, Conn weighed in at 180 for the Buddy Knox bout.

I had read that after the Baer fight Louis was kind of laxidasical in his training and lifestyle and gained some weight, thus the reason he had to diligently work to get under 200 lbs.
