No way is it fully tarnished. His still known as a great fighters, of course alot of people remember him for the bite, but ask them if he was a great fighter and they will say yes. His impact on the world of Boxing wen he started and smashed throught the ranks will never be seen again. He is the Youngest ever world champion, First to unite 3 belts, Undisputed champion, Lineal champ. He holds countless records in the PPV and Selling Tickets. And why? because he was great there are no two ways about itComment

Those things wont be remembered as brightly in the future as his record i think. He's not the only champion to have a turbulant social life.Comment

Sonny Liston Used dirty Tactics in the First Ali Fights, does that stop him from being Great?
Ali Refused to Go to the army does that stop him from Being great. He also Retired Against Holmes.
Tyson was a finished fighter against Kevin McBride, you cant judge a fighter on his last few fights, Did you see the interview the reason why he gave up? That made me respect him even more. He Was and IS great.Comment

Actually he didnt bite his ear off. Liston Blinded ali for the round. Other fighters have bite apponents, Holyfield constantly buts apponents and they come off with much worse injurys than he did. Its a fact tyson will be known and is known as a great Boxer. Just Like Micky b said..i bet u had forgotten about all the other things i statedComment

Look, I don't know how many ways I can say it. I love Mike and I think he's the best EVER, but the man has become a circus act.
You said you don't wanna see him make a half hearted comeback because it would tarnish his greatness, as if his comeback against Lewis was motivated by anything other than financial problems
It breaks my heart but he's been embarrassing himself for years now.
Sorry.Comment

I think the fact that he's been so embarassing is why people would want to see him come back, full-heartedly: to erase some of that by showing heart and congeniality.
He bit someone's ear...it wasn't because he was losing that fight, and especially not that round. He received a head-butt, and comments to this day that Holyfield kept searching for that cut when in close (ie: would look directly at it and then lean that way), and would rub his own head against it to inflame it. In the same fight, when Tyson started pushing Holyfield back instead of allowing himself to be waltzed, Holyfield grabs Mike's arm and tries to swing him around. All of these antics started in the 2nd round when Mike woke up, slipped multiple combinations, and started landing his own shots. The fact that Tyson was a loose cannon can't be used as basis for his tarnish when his opponent clearly tried to take advantage of that in moments of uncertainty; with no help from craptastic Mills Lane, I might add.
I am not saying that what he did was justified, but he was not the only dirty fighter in that fight. In fact, Evander started it, and maintained it when things started going the other way. Mike just made the single dirtiest play of them all.
It's so rediculous when ESPN SportsCentury, bums like Teddy Atlas, Bert Sugar, etc., make the claim that Tyson was losing so he wanted a way out. Anybody who actually watches that fight and pays attention can see a clearly different state of events. The guilty-verdict was stamped on him before he even stepped in the ring.
By the way, my first post was mildly sarcastic. I don't think he'd have the heart to come back, short of a James Braddock-like motivation...which he has never really shown the ability to do.
Finally, he won at least 5 of 6 rounds against McBride. He was beating Williams too, but a torn ligament in his knee sort of stopped that from happening. Even so, these fights are hardly guages for the man's greatness.Comment
