Great fighters need to take risks of being knocked out and he would of won the third if he would of took the risk.
He got koed by glen johnson who is a unknown which made things look bad so he lost 4 straight in a row so everyone forgot about him worse 3 matches against 1 guy so tarver kept getting the prompts.
But roy jones is coming back he recently beat a young upcoming lightwieght champ for ibc title and hes going to fight trinidad soon too.
I was never his biggest fan, but always admired and respected him and has to go down as an all-time great, IMO Tarver and Johnson and fit enough to lick his boots. In his prime he would have toyed with them. He was at the end of his career when he fought them, and should have retired after winning the heavyweight title or at least stayed at heavyweight. He had gained weight throughout his career and coming back down to light heavy was the factor that and being at tail end of career. A fighter in their prime would struggle going up weights and then back down, let alone a fighter near the end of his career, give Jones his due. Other than at heavweight, throughout his career I could have seen only one fighter he never fought giving him serious problems, but he was lazy and threw away his career, but he did at his best have a great chance of competing and beating him and that was Michael Nunn, one of the biggest wasted talents in boxing

Jones fought whoever was there. He really looked amazing as he moved up in weight too, which isn't always the case with p4p boxers.

While Hopkins may not have been at his best yet, the fight itself wasn't even close enough to warrant a flip given a little difference in experience. Plus, Jones really hit his stride at 168-175. He looked like he was in sparring sessions with people. Besides, he was only 15-0 when he fought B-Hop, so it's not like he was seasoned either.

RJJ only lost to Tarver because he was putting out half of the workrate that he was 5 years earlier, and he had to shed a ton of weight to make it back to Light Heavyweight. If Toney can be excused for being "weight drained," so can a 34 year old Jones when he fought Tarver...who he beat the first time.

Roy never even suffered his first real loss until he was 35. He's a P4P all time great.

jones fought whoever was in his division
it was the wrong time 4 em cuz things were really poppin at jr middle at the time
i wonder how boxing would of been if he stayed at jr middle or atleast won a title at 154

when you guys have to make an excuse that the reasons jones beat hopkins was that hopkins wasnt in his prime , let me tell you somethin,g jones hadnt hit his prime either. Hopkins went on a 20 win winning streak after beating jones and before beating jones. I'd say he was as good as he ever was, he just learned the tricks of the trade.

                      look at Mike mcCallum
he was one of the greatest jrmiddleweights of alltime
him n Roy started at jrmiddle and fought at what?lightheavy
                      mcclallum was still good
                      he lasted the rounds

                      and then virgil hill
a great lightheavy and cruiserweight champion
                      roy destroyed em

                      and he beat jorge vaca
                      a man who destroyed breland
lasted the distance wit terry norris
and what makes it good is roy fought em at jrmiddle
                      so it was legit
even tho after this fight his career went downhill x10

do i even gotta mention James Toney and Bernard Hopkins got decisioned both in their primes?
                      probably not

                      and he murdered vinny pazienna
tho he was moving up in weight
he even went around wit vinny without being hit!
                      vinny beat honeyghan,haugen,and robbie simms
he was a legit name on roys record

                      plus montell griffen
a man that beat james toney more than once
roy lossed by dq he shoulda won
                      then murdered em in 1

and he beat eric harding wen he was in his prime and undefeated
if tarver woulda got passed harding befor this bout
jones coulda provved he was better and woulda ko'd em
                      good win there

and can i mention julio cesar gonzales
the man beat michalczewski(long reigning lhw wbo champ)
thats an accomplishment, something i wish roy woulda did
but gonzales also beat glen johnson
                      good win for roy

he also beat the **** outta clinton woods
                      (u all know him)

                      and exposed John Ruiz
by winning his 4th division title
                      heavyweight

                      give roy his props dammit
                      - -Hmmm.
